The Darkest Mind Chapter 1: Time

Time doesn't exist here. At least not where I'm from, my name is Ruby Herring, I'm from Onos. My real name is ƧΛЯΛ ᄂIПᄃӨП. The Human Mind has taken over this place, people have become more focused on their reality, and ignoring the True Reality that befalls them. The True Reality is the real world where war rages and nature burns, but people are stuck in their heads having one mind, The Hive is growing stronger, The Human Mind is taking over.

My Resistance defies all Rules and combats all Justices that The Human Mind creates. Onos had been at war with Earth: 8334 or, The Bind for a long time now, The Foundation and The Mind were at peace but The Clandestine Affair broke off all ties with The Bind. After four days of negotiations, The Mind declared war on The Foundation on grounds of Multidimensional Treason along with allying with Earth: 2265 or The Blazed.

The Mind had taken over its people and made The Bind a Slave Planet and The Resistance was assigned to take down The Head also known as L.O.V.E. The Head Measures the Violence Level in the World and determines an attack strategy, making L.O.V.E. an efficient war strategist.

As I walk through the streets of L.A. my team reports back to me via an implant in my lower jaw.

"Ruby, we have some Deviants over here" reports Lucas

"Copy that, heading to your location now" I softly say as some L.O.V.E. Guards pass by

I run over to Lucas' location and I see two people laying on the ground their phones smashed and their eyes blank.

"Did they do this on their own?" I ask as I kneel next to the Girl lying on the floor

"Yeah I saw them do it as I was running from some Guards" replies Lucas

I nod as I pull off my bag and make a small incision in the girl's forearm near the elbow and pull out a Microchip.

"They are using Deviant Software, The Hive has shut down their nervous system hand me that syringe," I ask as I smash the Microchip.

Lucas hands me the syringe full of CSF fluid and I inject the fluid into her bicep after stitching her forearm. as I am doing this Lucas does the same with the Man next to him. The Girl wakes up her eyes Bloodshot and her skin pale, she looks at me then starts to back away, she looks around and sees the trees and buildings around her.

"I-is this the Real World?" she asks her voice trembling.

"I'm afraid so" I reply with a disappointed look

She looks at the man on the floor as he starts to wake up, his eyes are also Bloodshot and he has many scars on his face from the glass ripping through his skin.

"Look we are going to take you to The Carter Inn in Wyoming. We have a refugee camp in Ten Sleep." I explain to the Couple

As Lucas went to get the van, I gave the Couple some water and food, as they ate and drank on the sixteen-hour drive, They explained how they got into the Deviant Program and how they got the implants.

When we arrived at Ten Sleep it was 20:00, our guests were asleep and we checked into the hotel, Hector greeted us at the Check-In desk and led the sleepy couple to their quarters.

"Look, Ruby, I know you want to help these people, but you need to get on this mission, take down The Head, Ruby, The Resistance needs your support," Hector explains.

"Ok, Hector, say I do fight The Hive, I still have to free everyone from their Sims, The Mind will be resistant to our attacks, we cannot win this fight, Hector." I shoot back coldly.

"Still we need to try Rubes," Lucas says desperately

"What did I tell you about calling me that, Lucas!" I shout.

"Sorry Ruby" Lucas exclaims apologetically.

I walk to the van and get inside, I pull out the map that has The Head's location in Lebanon, an eleven-hour drive, how wonderful.
