'I may have something to tell you..'
Olivia put down the two cups of hot coffee down on the table.
There it was. Out and in the open. It made all the boys run as fast as they could - no one was waiting to become a stepdad just like that. If Marc was even interested at her like that. He will now lose interest in you, spoke the little voice in Olivia's head. That was exactly what the other boys in the past did. Sometimes Olivia would have a nice conversation with some man at a bar or party, but once they found about her having a child, they suddenly had to go. Her mind was in overdrive. 'Scratch that, you only want him to be a friend.' went through her mind because that was exactly what Olivia told him earlier.
'Where is she now?' Marc looked up at Olivia, a soft smile on his face, his brown eyes were also sparkling with interest. Suddenly it all started to click in his mind. The picture's of the little girl that often appeared on Fabio's Instagram, was his little niece. Olivia's daughter. Why didn't he noticed that before?
Marc's voice suddenly brought Olivia back to reality. 'She is at my parent'ss house right now. I will pick her up later.'
'That's lovely of them. What's her name?' He asked to get their conversation flowing again. He couldn't help but to stare at the woman in front of him. She was absolutely gorgeous and so different than all the others girls Marc knew.
'Hailey.' Olivia smiled when she said her name. That little girl was the best thing that could have happened during that difficult time. She was the light at the tunnel for her.
'That's a lovely name. She looks like a sweet and bubbly girl.' Marc said while looking at the pictures once again. Olivia was a bit surprised that Marc reacted this way, he was still in the same room as her and he wasn't trying to run away. Yet.
'Oh, she is! I am so blessed with a girl like her.' Olivia said while picking up her cup of coffee and taking a sip, enjoying the hot liquid. She kept on rambling about her little girl, what she liked to draw to what shows she was watching recently and how crazy she was with her uncle.
'Your an amazing mother.' He told her, he had noticed how her eyes started to sparkle when she was talking about it. There was no doubt that her daughter was really important for her. He found it absolutely adorable and it was telling him that she was really fond of her little family.
'Why are thinking that?' Olivia wondered why. He hadn't even seen her in her motherly role.
'I can just tell.' Marc smiled. 'Your eyes light up and you talk about her with so much love. There is no doubt that your an amazing mother to Hailey.'
'Thank you so much. I am trying to be the best I can for her. She deserves the world.' She said, while she felt her cheeks starting to flush. She found it so sweet of Marc to say such things, it made her heart flutter a little.
'Why didn't you tell me before?' Marc said, not meaning a lot with it, but he was wondering why she hadn't brought it up before. It was nothing to be ashamed of, right? Or could the woman in front of him be afraid of something? He had noticed that he couldn't find a picture in the room of a father.
'I don't know.. It didn't came up before.' Olivia simply said while shrugging her shoulders, wanting to drop this topic soon as possible. She didn't want Marc to dig in her past. Unfortunately, Marc had other plans..
'Olivia, I know there is more than you let on. I can feel it. I can see it in your eyes.' He could see in her eyes that there was something she was not telling him. 'You know you can always talk to me. I won't judge you.'
Those words didn't set right with Olivia and she had to control herself. Why the hell did he think that there was something with her? She suddenly started to get a bit insecure, was it so obvious that she had a troubled past? She felt like panicking again. She was starting to question all her actions again - why did she let Marc in her house in the first place?
'There is nothing.' She said abrupt, while crossing her arms stubborn.
'If there is nothing, than why are you keeping on shutting me out when I ask you certain questions?' He questioned her back. Her body language was telling him something else.
'Marc, I am not shutting you out. What are you talking about?' She tried to convince him.
'Nonsense. You know exactly what I am talking about. One moment I see the way you feel that connection between us too and the next moment you turn all cold.' He spoke and saw that Olivia kept quiet this time. Her turning cold was also what had happend last night with their little kiss. One second he felt like she wanted him and that's why he had decided to kiss her and the next second she turned him down completely.
'Can I please take you on date?' Marc had to try to save the situation. He wouldn't let her getaway that easily and besides that Marc always had liked a fight. He was a fighter and he wouldn't stop until he reached his goal.
'What are you asking me?' Olivia looked at him with wide eyes. Did she heard him correctly? While her brain was processing his question, he stood up and walked towards to her. His body was now close to him and she suddenly forgot how to breath. How could someone have such an impact on her that easily? She suddenly forgot all the annoying questions he had been asking her just a few seconds again.
'Just one date. If you don't have a great time, you will tell me, and I won't bother you again.' Marc tried to convince her to say yes to his proposal. He looked at her face and put some hair that was hanging around her cheek behind her ear. Her whole body started to shiver at the sudden contact.
'Deal?' Marc asked with a soft smile. He had noticed her body shake a bit and it made him feel certain that there definitely was more than she let on. She was feeling it too, just like he did.
'Deal. Just one date.' Olivia whispered softly, but her voice was loud enough for Marc to hear. He smiled when he heard her agree with his little plan.
'You are not going to regret this, Olivia.' He said and Olivia felt like smacking herself already for saying yes. All she could think about already was what could go wrong. Falling in love was one of them. His words 'I see the way you feel that connection between us too.' kept echoing through her mind.
