I called Amelia, Nancy, Kathleen, Liz, and Carolyn so they could say goodbye to Derek.
Derek
I heard crying.
It was Nancy, Kathleen, Liz, and Mom.
"I— I can't hear this. If I do, I'm gonna go back on my decision." It was Meredith.
You heard retreating footsteps.
"Mer!" It was Amelia.
You heard retreating footsteps again.
"What would you do?"
"If it was my husband?"
"Yeah."
Amelia sighed.
"It's a difficult decision. Especially with kids in the equation."
"They're the main reason I am making the decision to unplug him."
"Ah."
"What? Zola and Bailey are just supposed to see their Dad laying there with all these machines connected to him?"
"I can barely stand there with Derek connected to those machines. Let alone what goes through Bailey and Zola's heads."
"Because we both know what's going on. We both know he's already dead."
"Yeah."
"And all because their Doctors are idiots. Their whole staff here is incompetent."
"Yeah! She's talking about you too, Blondie! Keep it moving!"
Mer laughed.
"Can Neurosurgeons perform brain transplants?"
"Mom, you can't be serious." Kathleen told her.
"Their Neurosurgeon is too much of a nimrod to do it. All of these Doctors are nimrods!"
"Amelia."
"No. No! I'm not gonna be the one to cause your death."
"Amelia, your father is waiting for me."
"I can't. I'm sorry."
Mer sighed.
"I'm capable of doing the surgery. Even though I technically don't work in the Neurology department with Derek and Amelia. I work all over Grey Sloan. That includes Neurology when needed. But I'm gonna need another pair of Surgeon's hands."
"I can't, Mer."
"You think I wanna be the one to do it? It's an extremely invasive surgery and dangerous."
"Fine. I'll help you."
"Good."
