Back with the Caseys as Matt sits in his office:
Matt's POV: With Gabby and the kids all fast asleep for their afternoon naps upstairs, I sighed as I came down to my office to do some reading on my computer rather than just laying down in bed and twirling my thumbs. But before I could start reading my e-mails, I ended up doing a google search about cancer treatments. More specifically..."Brest cancer treatment - Stage 3"...I just had to know ahead of time what my sister was going to go through. I was going to hate seeing her so drained but...I needed to know what I needed to be ready to deal with as I fight this with Christie.

That's when I decided to go text Natalie. She must be able to help me. She's a doctor and can probably get me a good referral for my sister. I mean, my sister is friends with her...so I hope that I can tell her. Going to find her number in my phone, I went to hit it so that I could call her. Going to put my phone on speaker, I just waited for her to answer. And lucky for me, she answered right away. "Matt?" I laughed. "Hey Natalie, sorry if this is out of the blue." That's when I decided to get up and just go close my door. Nobody needed to hear about this, especially not Violet.

"No, it's fine. I bet you are worried right now and want to talk to a doctor." I laughed when he said that. "Trust me, I already know everything that's going on. I get the same briefing as you do every day in my e-mail." Natalie then realized why that was the case. "Right, because you're a Chief. Then what can I help you with?" I sighed when she asked me that. "Ok. I just want to preface this that it isn't for Gabby." Natalie got scared when I said that. "What's wrong?" I sighed. "You remember my sister Christie?" Natalie agreed. "Of course I do. She okay?" I sighed.

"Yeah...if she asks, don't tell her that you know already." Natalie agreed with me. "Okay?" I then took a breath. "My sister just told me that she has Breast Cancer - Stage 3." Natalie was shocked when I told her that. "Oh my god. That's..." I agreed with her and sighed. "Yeah, it's been on my mind since she told me. But I tried to take a nap to rest right now but...I couldn't so I'm online looking at stuff. Treatments and information on what it's going to be like. I guess I just wanted to talk to a doctor tell me what I can do for my sister." Natalie agreed with me when I said that.

"First, just make sure that you use reliable sources. And honestly Matt, I wouldn't worry too much about this. And when it comes to getting resources, I am sure that I can send you stuff." I sighed and agreed with her. "I would appreciate that Natalie. As much as my sister is going to say that she doesn't want me to look at this, she can't really stop me. This is who I am and I'm not going to change." Natalie agreed with me when I told her that because she knew that this was the truth. "Do you know when she starts treatments?" I shrugged. "Not yet. But I'll be there."

Natalie sighed. "They are actually only letting the actual patients in there right now. But of course the exception is kids. They are allowed one of their parents." I agreed with her when she said that and sighed. "Are their any options to do treatment at home?" Natalie just laughed. "Yes, there are. But that's not something you need to worry about." I sighed. "They are living here with me while she fights this so..." Natalie understood. "Oh, because this also in a way impacts your kids." I agreed with Natalie when she told me that. "Yeah. This is stressful."

Natalie understood where I was coming from. "Listen Matt, let me first say that I'm really sorry that your sister has to go through this. And I am so glad that she has you to lean on. I know that you are going to help her get through this." I nodded and agreed with her when she told me that. "Yeah, that's the plan. I just feel horrible about my niece. If I'm scared...how does she feel about this?" Natalie agreed with me when I said that. "Well, all you can do is be there for her. And at the same time, you can also talk to Gabby about this. Have you spoken about your fears?"

I agreed with Natalie when she asked me that. "Yeah, we're talking about it. I know that I can't just hide this from her. She's going to help me through my sister's cancer." That's when I heard Gabby walk up behind me. "You bet I am." going to wrap her arms around me, she just smiled and then went to kiss the side of my head. "Who are you talking to?" Turning around I smiled at Gabby because of what she was wearing. She was wearing some nice, silk PJs under a robe. Tugging her close to me, I smirked as she sat down in my lap. "Natalie, sister's cancer."

Going to put my phone on speaker, Gabby agreed. "Hey Natalie." Natalie then laughed. "Hey Gabby. Don't worry, he's talking to a friend." Gabby laughed when she said that. "Oh trust me, I already know that Matt would never cheat on me." I agreed with her when she said that and smiled at her. I then proceeded to kiss her and smiled as I took it slow with her. "After." Gabby nodded and smiled when I told her that. "Well listen, the place you can go is to Gaffney's cancer clinic. They will have a bunch of ressources on there." I agreed when she said that.

Going to look on the website, I smiled as I went to put my hand on Gabby's hip and cuddling up to me more. Holding her close, I smiled as I went to the website. "And they also have counselling for family members of people with cancer. They have a special one for kids. I know you have a niece and I would definitely recommend that your sister puts Violet in touch with her." I agreed with her when she told me that because I was a really good idea. "Yeah, that's a good idea. I will talk to her about it." Natalie agreed with me and smiled. "Yeah, that's a good idea."

Gabby then decided to bring something up. "So listen Natalie, while I have you on the phone...can I ask you to do something for me?" I turned to look at Gabby when she said that. "You ok babe?" Gabby agreed. "Yes, I am. I was just going to ask Natalie to talk to Dr. Asher and see whether she has room on her schedule for a potential new patient." Natalie agreed with Gabby when she asked. "Do you mind if I ask who?" Gabby sighed. "My niece Eva." Natalie was shocked. "Oh wow. Uhm, I will reach out to her and see if she has room in her schedule."

I agreed with Natalie when she said that. "I'm sure that Antonio and Eva would appreciate that Natalie, thanks." Natalie just agreed. "Well listen, I am going to try and talk to the doctor for Eva. But right now, I need to do some pumping." I laughed when she said that. "How are Nick and WIllie?" Natalie laughed. "I will send you a new picture of them. But they're doing great. I just hate that Will is back at work. It's hard." Gabby agreed with her. "If you ever need anything, just give us a call. Us moms need to stick together." I agreed with Gabby and smiled.

"Well listen, I am going to let you go Natalie. Thanks for your help but...I think I need to go help Gabby upstairs." Natalie agreed. "Of course. Have a good day guys and stay safe." I nodded and agreed with Natalie when she said that before going to hang up. I then looked at Gabby and smiled as she sat in my lap. Putting her hands on my chest, Gabby went to kiss me and smiled. "How are you feeling?" I smiled when she asked me that. "Better." Gabby agreed and smiled when I said that. Wrapping her arms around my neck, she kissed me softly.

"Are the kids still asleep?" Gabby nodded and smiled when I asked her that. " I just put the boys in their rooms. But, what do you say we go upstairs? Maybe we can take a bath or just have a bit of fun in bed." I smirked and agreed with Gabby when she asked me that. "I like the bath idea." Going to pick Gabby up in my arms, I smiled as I went to grab my phone and then wrapped my arm around Gabby's back. Going to carry Gabby out of my office, I smiled as I went to shut the lights off so that me and Gabby could go upstairs to our room while bending down to kiss her neck softly.

"The kids are still asleep in our room and I want to just cuddle in bed with you. Maybe we can talk about what you were looking at." I nodded and agreed with Gabby when she told me that, continuing to carry her upstairs to our room so we can get back in bed together.
