Y/n POV

You finished working out and Sam was done with Bucky. You all packed up and Sam drove you both home. You decided to sit in the back with Bucky, to make him feel more comfortable. "So how was it?" you asked Sam and Bucky. "Well, Bucky's doing really good. At this rate he'll be able to walk in two days." said Sam. You looked at Bucky. "That's awesome, Buck." You grabbed his hand and smiled at him. He wrapped his hand around yours and smiled back. Sam pulled into the apartment and dropped you both off. Bucky put his arm around your neck. He still needed some assistance with walking. He was better than before though. You walked into your apartment and Bucky went to sit on the couch.

He stared at you the whole time. You chuckled under your breath. "What do you want for lunch, Buck?" you said, trying to break the awkward silence. "Oh uh..." he said. You laughed. "How about some sandwiches?" "...Yeah sure..." He sat on the couch and played with his fingers as you made them. "Y/n?" You looked up from the sandwiches. "There's this feeling I haven't felt in a long time..." "What's that, Buck?" "Peace." You both sat silently. It was then that you realized that you felt the same. There were no more villains to fight. No more evil knocking at your door. You thought about those past 90 years, and you realized just how much you had gone through and all the battles you had fought. But through all of them you had Bucky somewhere in your heart. He was the one thing that kept you...you. Even if you didn't know it.

"Y/n, are you okay?" Bucky had noticed that you had zoned out. You looked at your hand. The knife you were holding to slice the cheese was poised in the air. "...Yeah..." you continued making the sandwiches in silence. You set them at the table and Bucky walked over. Sam was right. He was doing better. A lot better. The only thing that you noticed was that he still had a slight limp. He sat in his chair, and you sat in yours. "Are you alright? What's going on?" you asked Bucky. It looked like something was making him very nervous. "I'm fine, it's nothing." "Okay..." you eyed him suspiciously.

You both finished lunch and decided to finish your round of cards that Bucky had let you win. You shuffled the cards and dealt them out. "No cheating and no letting me win." you said to Bucky. "Alright, doll." he said, smiling.
