Shall we visit Hogwarts?

Risa's summary: Athea Rose can simply not stand Remus Lupin; how can he think himself better than she is? It's been that way for a while, maybe a while too long.
The OWLs are approaching, that'll be the perfect stamp on their competition.
A bet is placed, the stakes are set, and the results would clearly tell the truth.
Maybe that was a childish move. However, outcomes are most times, anything but childish.

I sat on a comfy, puffy, floating cloud while I read this book. Yes, we were on our way to cloud nine. The author's voice was so coherent it gave that feel.

I had a wonderful, wonderful time with this book. Though they were still in their early stages of development, I loved most of its characters. Especially, Laura. Laura's insouciant personality was a joy to follow, Athy's kind heart was adorable, and Clars, she was a sweet soul. I loved how each one could easily be distinguished by particular traits: the foodie, the sleepyhead, the studious and organized.

Because I enjoyed reading this book so much, I wished for more substance. Sadly, I was disappointed. First off, the stakes were just too low; serving someone for one day doesn't quite cut it. Really, there wasn't much to lose, if anything would be lost. I suggest: the stakes should be raised.

Secondly, it didn't sit right with me that Remus didn't agree to the bet. Is it even a bet if it was just a one-sided proclamation? His friends chimed in, yes, but Remus did not agree to it.

Grammatical errors were sparse. The most common being the placement of commas after quotation marks, as a general rule of thumb - except In British English where commas are only inserted in quotation marks if the original quoted material also included them - commas come before the final quotation mark.

Side note, it was a good choice to drop Laura's idea. In the truest sense, it was very far from reason.

The cover was a big no for me. I certainly wouldn't have given this book a chance based on it alone. The summary doesn't give much to look forward to either.

I see this book being a five-star read if polished and improved right. I read only five chapters so I can't be sure of how much depth it grew to have, but judging from the parts I read, there wasn't so much to look forward to.

The Bet is a charming read, out of the ordinary. I'd absolutely recommend this to anyone who'd love a heartwarming tale of friendship and love. And of course, anyone who'd love to visit Hogwarts.
