It was a nice day outside. The sun was bright and birds were singing as vehicles zoomed down the active road. Everything was great.. For several people. Albert cursed to himself as he hurried out from his private office. "Shit. Shit. Shit." He murmured as he swiftly pushed one of the elevator buttons. It was about lunch time and Albert hadn't had the chance to invite Y/N to join him.
As the elevator doors closed, Albert couldn't help but feel antsy. His foot tapped against the elevator door at a rapid pace as he checked his nonexistent watch. As the doors finally opened he rushed out towards the front desk.
Albert's shoes were the only sounds in the quiet corridor as he darted towards the building's entrance, tapping them as he ran.
Y/N was sitting at the front desk, papers scattered across the surface. They were deep in concentration when they heard approaching footsteps. Their expression changed from being concentrated to disgust upon seeing who was speeding down the hall. It was Dr. Albert Krueger, their boss. Y/N absolutely despised him. His charm didn't have an effect on them, unlike everyone else. He was annoying and... kinda creepy, yet no one else seemed to notice.. Or care. It was because he was handsome, Y/N swore that was the reason.
Pretty privilege.
Y/N didn't have any reason to trust the handsome, charismatic, and all-around charming therapist. Y/N wouldn't be surprised if it turned out he was a murderer of some sort... That was a joke, for multiple reasons... Y/N wanted to quit this job badly, but they were running low on money and couldn't afford to be without one. It was a very sticky situation they were in.
"Ahem." Someone coughed.
Y/N turned their head towards the noise.
Y/N glared at the taller man as they waited for him to speak. Albert chuckled awkwardly before striking up a conversation. "Good afternoon Y/N, I was wondering if you wanted to go get lunch with me?" It was kinda amusing to watch him stammer, face sweating, clutching his tie as he tried to regain his composure. It didn't take a genius to notice that he was out of breath.
Y/N took a few minutes before responding, much to Albert's dismay. He hated this silence... maybe because he already knew their answer. It was uncool that they were trying to waste his time.
"No thank you," they responded blankly, looking straight into his eyes. They had work to do, they had to go to lunch and didn't have time for chit chat, despite him being their boss.
Albert sighed as his fingers tapped against Y/N's desk. His eyes loomed over Y/N's figure as he came up with what to say. This was the third time this week that they'd declined his offer, and it was driving him nuts. "Is that so?" He huffed, both of his arms extended across the desk, each hand holding a side of it, his face was directly in front of Y/N's face which displayed a disinterested look.
"How about I put it this way..." He smirks. "If you and I don't have lunch together... You're fired." An expression of smugness appeared on his face. That asshole.
Albert knew about the predicament Y/N was in. They were broke. The fact they were low on money made everything a lot easier for Albert. He never wanted to bring up Y/N's financial problems, but he was beginning to get impatient. Y/N's expression darkened as his eyes looked into theirs. Their hatred for this man doubled that day. They scoffed as they looked back at their paperwork. "I guess I can have lunch with you, as long as I can carry my work along." They murmured while they completed writing. A hand was elevated to Albert's chin, as if to reveal he was thinking. He was obviously trying to bother Y/N, which he succeeded in doing without even trying.
