Greenwich Village, New York"I want to adopt her," Stephen looked at the orphan keeper, her eyes wide.
"Are you sure about that?" She questioned, eyes wide.
Strange's brows furrowed as he sat across the woman. He had changed out of his attire, and into something more regular, hoping that this wouldn't terrify the woman. Well, at this point, she was more appalled at the fact that the girl was going to be adopted at all.
"I am completely confident in my decision, so yes."
"And you want to adopt her because...?"
"Because I can see a future for her. Now, for the last time, can I please sign the papers?"
The woman nodded her head hurriedly, pulling sheets of papers out of a cabinet as Stephen eyed her movements, the papers placed down.
And so began the tedious task of paperwork.

"Come on, kid," Stephen walked through a portal as Anthea sat up straight in her bed.
"Pack up you're stuff, you're coming home with me."
"You're adopting me?" Anthea raised an eyebrow, squinting at the man in confusion.
"Yes, so start packing."
"But won't it take a while for it to actually be official?" Anthea raised an eyebrow, stuffing all her belongings into a backpack as it conveniently lay nearby, along with all her other belongings.
"Look, you're not the only one with tricks up your sleeve," Strange sighed. "Now let's go."
The sorcerer walked through the portal, Anthea looking at it wearily as she poked her arm through it, eyes widening as she realised it was harmless. She spotted the entrance of the orphanage around her, Stephen glancing at her strangely.
"What are you doing?" Stephen questioned.
"Checking to see that I don't die crossing this thing," She muttered before walking through. "Turns out, I didn't."
"Why would I adopt you if I'm trying to kill you."
"I dunno! I've read about what wizards do with the curses and... whatever else you do."
"That was very stereotypical but I'll let it slide."
The two then walked away from the orphanage, Anthea looking back at it for a last time as Strange walked ahead, leaving the girl to catch up after him.
"You adopted me," She looked at him incredulously.
"Yes."
"I pickpocketed from you."
"Correct."
"You do realise this means that anything small and valuable possessions of yours is at risk?"
"Oh, most definitely."
"Then why did you adopt me?" She steps in front of him, crossing her arms as she looked up at the older man.
