Remember the first time we met? We didn't like each other for the traits. It all actually started in high school. Freshman year. I thought that we could be best buddies, but we were the total opposite of each other. I was the Little Miss Perfect, while you were the Queen of Mischief. How funny the way the coincidences line up.

The second semester, early Monday morning, 15th January. I was minding my business. Sorting my books in my locker, to be exact. That's when I first heard about the big news.
"Hey, Mer. Have you heard about the new girl?" A straight short-haired blondie came up to me. The blondie is Helena. She's been my best friend since kindergarten and is also my first friend. She seemed excited yet worried about the news.
"Not really. Where is she? Is she coming today?" I asked curiously. This is another big opportunity to make a new friend who obeys the rules. I thought to myself. I quickly face the mirror in my locker to fix my hair. I need to make sure I made a great first impression since I was also the face of the school.
"I'd say she's a troublesome girl, actually" She ended her sentence with a weird glance to my back. She's probably behind me. My thoughts tried to be rational. I turned to my left, only to see a girl walking in wearing a black leather jacket and high heels. It doesn't mean anything, or so I thought.
"She doesn't look like a big trouble." I shrug off any bad thoughts. I glanced at Helena. She gave me a look.
"Well, if you sure you can fix her-"
"She's fine. She hasn't broken any rules so far. Sorry, I know it's rude to cut people off" I apologize quickly after I gave my piece of mind. I inhaled a deep breath before walking up towards the girl.
"Hi. Meredith Jones, president of the student council. Nice to meet you." I extended my hand towards her while carving a smile. She gave it a sceptical look. I really hope that it was a great impression without hurting anyone's feelings.
"Jennifer Herron" She didn't accept my extended hand. She walk away as if I wasn't there instead. Ouch that hurts. I followed her figure with my eyes as she kept on walking farther and farther away from me.
"Believe me now?" Helena said while walking towards me from behind. I carved a confident smile.
"I'll reveal her best self. You just have to wait and see" I said confidently with my hand on the hips. Helena gave me a sceptical look before responding to me.
"Yea, whatever floats your boat," She said as she rolled her eyes before walking to her class, thus leaving me alone.
"Oh I'll prove to her, alright," I said confidently to myself as I carve a determined smile. I then took my books and walk to my class. Jennifer Herron, I'll help you shine in a good way.
As I walk to my first class which was French, I made eye contact with my latest target. The one and only, Jennifer Herron. Right there and then, I spot an empty seat next to hers. I took my chance and fill the empty seat next to her. I carved a warm smile at her, while she responded to my smile with an eye roll. I was taking notes about the girl when the teacher entered the class with some worksheets.
"Jones, can you help me distribute these worksheets to the class? " Mr Smith extended his hands that were holding the papers to me.
"Sure thing, Mr Smith" I took the papers from his hands and started to distribute the papers to the class.
"Merci, mademoiselle Jones " The teacher started to speak in French. He thanked me for helping him distribute the worksheets.
"Le plaisir est pour moi, monsieur Smith" I proudly smile. My French is getting better and better each class. I walked to my seat with a grin plastered for about a minute. The grin faded after I heard the words from Jennifer.
"Wow, nerd" Jennifer whispered so that only I could hear her. Oh shut up you. Calm down, Meredith. Calm down.
I always thought Jennifer was just a tough dough to form into perfectly round cookies. Never actually thought I would slowly lose myself piece by piece because of her.
