Isabella hadn't thought much about it when her birthday had come around. She knew what it meant, but she didn't think it was special. Being 19? It's just another number, another year added to her life.
It was only when she had to pay her first rent that she realized the significance. That was when she realized she was an adult, and she needed to find some income.

So four days after her birthday, Isabella set out to some local fast food joints around her Downtown apartment. She would give them her one page resumé, talk with some mangers, and head to the next place to repeat the process. But, no one ever really got back to her, and the few times she called, she was told her application was denied for another, better candidate.

It was no surprise, given that she'd only worked at one McDonald's when she was 14, and that was for only three months.

So she started looking at other businesses, such as clothing stores, grocery stores, she even tried the local library.

But after a solid three weeks of searching, nothing had come up.

So when her good friend Caleb came over to hangout one day, she told him about it and asked what she should do.

"You wanted a job, Izzy you should've told me sooner!" He said as they lazed in her room. "There's this great place I know of that's hiring! It's called Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex. It's like a whole mall, but all the shops and restaurants are owned by one big company, Fazbear Entertainment. You'd love working there!"

Isabella had heard of it, of course. Who wouldn't have heard of the most famous robotic performers in the world? They were practically more famous than Beyoncé or Ariana Grande, or BTS were in their days.

But she'd never thought of working there.
"How do you know?" She asked Caleb.
"Oh, I used to work there as a janitor," he said. "I met a guy named Shawn, we kept in touch after I quit for my current job. We talked about two weeks ago, and he said the place is hiring a bunch of new people, no experience needed." He went on. "You'll love it. You'll always have something to do, and you even get to talk to the band!"

Isabella thought it over. Would she hate working for one of the most well known companies? Not really.

"Okay, sure. Why not?" She'd said.

And so it was the next day that she set out. The establishment was in Downtown, so it wasn't hard to get to.

She headed through the doors at around 9AM, not sure what to expect. She entered with a group of other people. She mostly saw very young kids and toddlers with generally one parent accompanying them. It made sense, it was a Wednesday morning, most people had work, and older kids were at school.

When she entered, she was greeted by a set of entrance gates, and beyond that, a statue of the place's star mascot, Freddy Fazbear. It was rather nice looking, shiny gold in colour. The entire place was strangely... Aesthetically pleasing, with bright colours and friendly wall art.

She wasn't sure where she should go to talk to someone about applying, so she slowly approached one of the human staff admitting people through the gates. She chose the one with the smallest line.

"Welcome to Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex!" The woman greeted. "Your entry pass?"
The lady looked over at Isabella with an odd expression. It seemed as though she was confused that a 19 year old was there without a child or sibling and parent.

"I'm... Actually here to see about maybe applying for a job here?" Isabella explained. "A friend of mine told me you were hiring so..."

"Was this friend someone who works here?" The lady asked.
"Uh, he used to. His name's Caleb, he said he used to work as a janitor."

The lady was about to speak, when another voice interrupted.
"Isabella, right?"

She turned around to see a male maybe three years older than herself and wearing a Parts and Service shirt, striding over with a smile.
"That's right." She said hesitantly.

"Ah, wonderful!" He said, reaching for a handshake which Isabella accepted. "I'm Shawn, Caleb and I talked a lot while he worked here. He told me he referred a friend of his!"

Isabella smiled back. "He told me about you, too."
Shawn raised a finger slightly. "Only good things, I hope?" He winked with a grin.
"Actually, he didn't say much. Just that you worked together and kept in touch. Other than that, I've no idea." She shrugged.

"Ah, well I'm glad I can help you then. I'm one of the mechanics. I work down in Parts and Service... All the nitty gritty robot work, fun stuff." He grinned, before continuing.

"If you come with me, you can meet the Manager, AKA my boss. He's a nice guy. You'll like him. If all goes well, we can get you started right away!"

Isabella was surprised, to say the least. A job offer on the spot? What had Caleb said about her?

She followed Shawn to some back rooms, then up to a set of offices in some upper levels. Here, Shawn lead her to one room labeled, Manager.
The door was ajar, so Shawn knocked a knuckle against it to alert the man sitting on a chair inside, looking over and signing some pages.

He looked up at the knock. "Oh, Shawn. Is this the new recruit your friend told you about?"

Shawn gave a nod, as the man in the chair got up, moving around his desk to shake Isabella's hand.
"I'm Xavier Dutcher, the manager. Shawn here told me his friend referred you."

Isabella nodded. "That's right. I'm Isabella," she added with a slightly nervous smile. "Isabella Kimble."

The manager smiled warmly. "Well, Isabella. Are you ready for your first day on the job?" He gave a wink.

She was taken aback, but nodded eagerly. "Y-yes, Mr Dutcher, absolutely!"

Mr Dutcher smiled wider. "Wonderful! Oh, and no need for formalities. Call me Xavier. Everyone here does, it sounds odd to be called 'Mr Dutcher'." He chuckled.

Isabella nodded again.
"Right," Shawn said. "I'll show you to the employee lounge. Two of the best dayshift workers are in today, so they can help you get started. Oh, and make sure to check in at the check in desk. Just write your number and email in there and the time you start, the rest can be handled later."

And so off they went, to where the employee lounge was. Along the way, Isabella couldn't help being excited. Had she just landed the simplest job she could have gotten?
