Back in freshmen year, Maddy was with this kid Payton. He was obsessed with her, and she was obsessed with him. He'd buy her anything she wanted, and she'd love him no matter what.
Well until Nate Jacobs came along. Maddy had always been a cheerleader and even though Payton didn't do sports he came to every football game to cheer on his girlfriend.
Nate took a liking to her, he bought her flowers and spoiled her. Payton wasn't rich like Nate so he couldn't keep up.
Though when Maddy officially left Payton he got on his knees and sobbed begging her to stay. She cried too and held him in her arms but untimely she left.
For a whole week, Payton was a no-show at school. Cassie, Maddy's best friend, thought Maddy made a huge mistake because Maddy had been dating Payton for a year and she loved him so much.
But Nate could give her what she wanted. Popularity, money, clothes, and confidence. Though Payton could give her love she chose Nate.
After their breakup, Maddy tried to call him and text him but he'd blocked her. Or so she thought. Payton was one of her best friends who listened to her complain and cry. So, when she left him, she didn't realize he would ghost her. She thought he'd still be there.
But you don't come back from heartbreak like that. Since that Payton focuses on his school praying to get out as soon as possible. But that doesn't stop Nate from bullying him every once in a while when he glanced at Maddy for too long.
It took a toll on his mental health too. He started to stop sleeping and get super depressed. For a while, he didn't leave his bed. Not once.
Hell everyone, even Maddy, thought he fucking died but he finally came back. But he'd leave for a week every month.
You might be thinking: Why not move on? Well, he was going to, but he'd found out a few days before Maddy left him she'd cheated on him.

Fast forward to now Maddy has been with Nate for over a year and all they do is fight, cheat, and break up. Though it never lasts long.
Maddy can't stop herself from thinking about Payton from time to time. Neither can Payton.
