"Hey! I was playing with that." Vienna said pouting. "That's too bad, now I am." A blonde boy said, sticking his tongue out at her. The boy lunged forward from a shove someone gave him from behind. "You're always a pest Peter." A girl with a short black bob walks to face him as she snags the toy out of his hands. "It's not your turn yet, Peter the pest." Peter pouts "Mrs. Harbo told you to stop picking on me and calling people names Suki!" Suki.. she must be new, Vienna thinks to herself while Peter and Suki bicker. She must of joined when I was out with the flu. "Here you go. My name is Suki, what's yours?" She said, handing Vienna the toy broom. "Vienna" she said with a soft tone. "Do you want to play house together?" Suki asked. Vienna grinned, "Sure"! For the next week they did everything together, classwork activity's, sat with each other at lunch and picked each other for partner time. "Do you want to spend the night at my house this weekend?" Suki asked. "Yeah! I'll ask my mom when I get home today!" Mrs. Harbor clapped three times to get the class's attention, "Okay class, we have five more minutes till we are released, let's start picking up and packing our things" as Vienna was packing her pencil pouch a pencil rolled onto the floor. As she went to grab it a foot stepped on it. When she looked up she saw Peter with a grin on his face. Vienna scoured her face. "What's wrong Vienna? Missing something." "Give me my pencil Peter" "Why would I do that?" "Because you're a pest and if I have to I'll get rid of you myself." "I like the see you try, you're just a girl." Peter said crossing his arms. Vienna grabbed her water bottle with her pull tip open and squished the bottle, squirting water all over Peter's face and clothes. "Ah! That's cold!" He said stepping back. Vienna picked up her pencil. "Now I'm all wet! Mrs. Harbo, Vienna just squirted water all over me and my clothes!" Mrs. Harbo walked over, "Vienna, why did you squirt water on Mr. Peter?" "He was standing on her pencil Mrs. Harbo, he wouldn't move even after she asked him." Suki blurts. "Peter, what did I tell you about picking on people?" Mrs. Harbo sighs. "Vienna, it is not okay to squirt water on people, if you have a problem please call for me. And Peter, you have one more warning, if I get word you picked on other person a note will be going home with you in your agenda and your peg will go on red. Now both of you apologize." "Yes Mrs. Harbo" they said in unison. "I'm sorry I stepped on your pencil." "I'm sorry I got you all wet." "There you go! Now finish picking up your belongings and head into the pickup line." Suki and Vienna played lemon-aid and the bubblegum game while they waited in the pick up line. "Vienna, time to go home!" Mrs. Harbo called out. She walked her to the car and Vienna's mom rolled the passenger window down as Vienna got into the backseat. "Hi Mrs. Soyer, we had a little hiccup today at pack up. Vienna got into it with another student and sprayed water over them. She did apologize I just wanted to let you know." Vienna's mom looks back at her in the rear view with a displeased look. "Thank you for letting me know Mrs. Harbo, I'll make sure it won't happen again". Vienna's mom says with a smile. Mrs. Harbo steps back onto the sidewalk and waves bye. As they are pulling off, Vienna hears her mom rolling up the window and can feel the look through the rear view mirror. "He's been picking on me all week mommy, Peter's a pest." "Vienna, that is not nice to say, I don't want you calling him that, I know you would be sad if someone called you that." Vienna crosses her arms. "Why did you do what you did?" "He stepped on my pencil and wouldn't give it back when I asked him." "I like that you're setting boundary's, and not letting anyone push you around honey, but you need to go to an adult, okay?" "Okay" Vienna said in a defeated tone. "Anything exciting happened today?" "No, not until Friday, which is so far away." Vienna groans. "Oh that's right! We have the field trip to aquarium on Friday" "We?" Vienna asked. " Yes we, I'm a guardian and car pooler. There's a few guardians that will be there to help the kindergartener class." Vienna shoots up, "ooh mommy! Can Suki join us for car pool please!" "I'll let Mrs. Harbo know but can't make any promises okay." "Okay. Oh mommy! I almost forgot, Suki invited me to spend the night this weekend can I go pretty please!" "I'll talk to your dad about it but you have to promise to be good the rest of the week, no being a meanie to other kids". "Yes mommy, I won't I promise". Vienna said with a big grin looking outside her window at the summer time trees noticing a slight breeze making the vibrant flowers dance.
