It's early august. The sun is beaming down and the wind is flowing softly, the perfect weather for a stroll around town. A stroll around the town of Spaten to be specific, located in Washington and known for its annual Spaten Music Festival. A place where every shop in town had the town's name in it and every new face caused whispers amongst the people. With a population of only 634 it was the kind of place where everyone knew everyone. Your business was everyones and secrets...well they didn't last long.
In the heart of Spaten, the town square were shops that amazed the many tourists that stopped by. In the middle a white and black gazebo, placed in honor of the late Annabeth Lanes. The townsfolk took it upon themselves to keep it standing and to replace and water the flower garden around it. There were daisies and tulips, carnations and orchids, all creating a rainbow of color and smell. The town square appealed to the eyes of the people that lived here and those that didn't. It created a space of welcome and was where all of the gatherings were held.
Surrounding the beautiful town square were shops galore, catering to every need of every passerby. Spaten Market, owned by the one and only Haw Meadows. Haw is a 47 year old man, slightly overweight but otherwise in good shape for his age. He is a short caucasian with light skin, brown eyes, and black hair that has begun to thin and gray on top. The townspeople find him entertaining to watch and energetic, but also think that he can be disloyal and very sneaky. He grew up here in Spaten and was raised by his mother, his father having left when he was young. He is currently single. His most recent romance was with a lawyer named Elenora Sylvestor, that he had met during the divorce of his ex-wife, Alanna Devonte. Haw and Elenora split because they had many disputes about where to live. Haw runs the market with his handpicked employees, supplying groceries to the people of Spaten.
Spaten Hardware, run by Duscha Turner and owned by some rich prick that lived elsewhere helped the town with all of their hardware needs. Duscha is a 28 year old woman who enjoys working out in her free time, which shows. She is tall with olive skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. She can be very stubborn and distrusting but she is determined and inspiring, leaving her home when she turned 18 to live on her own despite her fathers wishes for her to go to college to become a doctor. She is currently in a relationship with Gavin Miguel Jenkins, a builder and a part of the Spaten construction crew.
Next is Sienna Jagger, who runs the Spaten Jewelry store. There was nothing too fancy there, mostly homemade stuff but every now and then you would stumble upon a real masterpiece. Sienna Jagger is a free spirited 23 year old vegan. She enjoys going glamping, making her jewelry, and donating blood. Sienna is a skinny, chocolate skinned hispanic, with brown eyes and red dyed hair. She is a kindhearted, giving person, but she can also be very talkative and a bit observant which isn't a good mix. She tends to spill things about others in front of the subject of her gossip. She started studying chemistry in college but dropped out to pursue her passion of craft and becoming a full fledged vegan. After her father died, she was raised by her strict mother who was determined to teach her the proper ways of a lady, prompting her to drop out. She is in an on and off relationship with the chef from the high end restaurant down the road, Ferdinand Cook. Sienna had always found the correlation between his last name and his profession to be quite funny.
The Spaten Thrifter, run by Hamza Joyner who was great at haggling a price. Hamza Joyner is a 35 year old southeast asian man with walnut skin, black hair, and brown eyes. As a business man he is energetic and smart but can also be very persistent and a bit greedy. He is currently married to Zane Mccarthy, how she deals with him-the people do not know. The Spaten Thrifter sells things from clothes to household goods, some of the prices so outrageous that the store shouldn't be considered a thrift but nonetheless the townspeople shopped there.
On the other side of the street lies Spaten Books run by Dakota Taylor, beloved by all in the town of Spaten. Dakota Taylor is a 21 year old girl with an obsession with zombies and the stories they behold. She is tall, with dark olive skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. She is the stereotypical book store worker, chill and friendly but standoffish and introverted. Dakota is recently single, having been broken up with by Brett Iris when he got tired of her interest to stay in and read rather than to go out drinking. Spartans Books holds every type of book imaginable, which most find surprising for such a small town. From fantasy like Harry Potter to classics like the Great Gatsby. They had comics books, mystery, action, horror, historical fiction, cookbooks, textbooks, and even the news oxford dictionary.
From the aisles of the book store you can smell the sweet treats of Spaten Bakery. Owned and run single handedly by American Jones. With her common catchphrase "I've got the best goods in all of america. Wanna know how I know? Because America says so" she feeds hungry people, locals and tourists alike. America is a 30 year old, extroverted, busy body baker. She's spastic and unorganized but she gets the job done and is adored by all who cross her path. She is short with bronze skin, auburn hair, and blue eyes. She is married to Fraser Jones and has two kids, Danny and Stella. She has been cooking since she was 15 and has long since improved her talent into baked goods galore. From pastries to pies and cakes, she has got it all.
Mixing with those baked goods you've got a more acquired smell...paint. The Spaten pain store owned by Aria Walker adds the pop of color needed for the town. She helps the town committee organize all of its festivals, events, and even the keeping up of the town garden. Much like her best friend and shop neighbor Sienna, she is a 23 year old free spirited girl. They share most things in common but differ in that of Aria's love for meat. She's very extroverted and chill, but can also be rather unbothered and a bit of a bad listener when inspiration has struck. She is tall with dark skin, brown hair, and brown eyes. Her body almost always clad in paint covered overalls. She is working on a new piece every time that you enter her shop. Her painting habits resemble those of her dating, she has fun with each one but it's quick and done.
And last but certainly not least, the finest establishment home to the grumpiest of guys, Cal Donavon who runs Cal's diner. The most frequented food business in town. Cal Donavon is a 25 year old diner owner who enjoys hikes and healthy eating. He is a kind, thoughtful man, but he can be very grumpy and impatient with his customers. He's quick to throw them out when they don't follow his diner rules, but yet they still return. Cal is in great shape, he's tall with ivory skin, dark brown hair, and hazel eyes. His tough exterior came from being raised solely by his father who recently passed due to a heart attack. Although their relationship had always been rocky the death did and still does affect Cal greatly. Cal learned his dining trade all on his own, turning his dad's hardware shop into a diner. Although Cal is a simple man the thought of spending his days rotting in a hardware store disgusted him and thus came Cal's diner. The only shop in town square that didn't have the town name in it. Simply because Cal didn't take enjoyment in participating with the town's festivities.
All together these lovely people make up the lovely shops for the lovely square of the lovely town of Spaten. Where whispers are about to rise and secrets will get out. Relationships will be made and broken and the story of two girls will begin.
