"Dylan! Wait for me!" I called to my friend as he raced ahead of me. Dylan stopped.
"Well don't be such a slowpoke then!" He grinned back. Despite this comment, I smiled at him.
"Thanks, Dylan."
Dylan and our other friends were waiting for a movie to start in the front room, while I made popcorn. Our friends don't usually tell me when it starts, so I count on Dylan to. Sure enough...
"Jack! The movie's starting!" I smiled and blushed at the sound of his voice and brought the popcorn in, though the snack probably wouldn't last long anyway.
"Thanks, Dylan!"
I didn't have enough money to buy a snack on the way to school today, so I was about to go to school with a stomachache until lunch time when I remembered that Dylan had made me some cookies before he went to hospital. I grinned again. "Thanks, Dylan."
Dylan had been in hospital for ages now, and he had just yesterday had a test to see if he could go home. Me and Dylan's parents and sister were in the waiting room to see what the results were.
The doctor came out of the room smiling. "Good news! Dylan can come home in a few days! He seems to have got better just for you!" I knew he was probably talking to Dylan's little sister, but I beamed inside anyway. I whispered something to myself, hoping that, somehow, my friend would hear.
"Thanks, Dylan. Thanks so much."
