"You're far too easy on her." They said before taking a bite of their frozen treat.
"Really? What makes you say that?" The male present asks as he sips his coffee.
The two were seated comfortable in a booth. Slow traffic coming in and out of the little haven. The smell of coffee freshly brewed and backed goods wafted in from the kitchen. A warm and comfortable atmosphere laid easily on all inside.
"You always let her off the hook and open to compromise. Sometimes just throwing the whole plan out the window." The young lady besides the man sounded almost board.
She was a Black young Woman around her senior highschool years. The bright punk still hoodie cropped to show her crazy styled shirt. Zebra print.
The man makes a hum in acknowledge her statement.
"Yet. I always meet the goal and objective just fine." He stated simple yet proud of himself.
A white older male of his early 20s sat opposite of her. An open laptop between the two as he typed on the screen.
"I have yet to truly fail. I've always been a step ahead and never once have I slipped." He smiles as he pushes up his glasses taking a break to fully comit to the conversation.
"People are gonna notice. If not had." She takes another bite of her ice cream.
He simply smiles at his companion as he contemplates his next words.
"Yet. I've contributed more than just my share to our teams cause as mine. If they have concerns about it, there'd be an issue long before now," he smiles as he sets his cup of coffee down "so. Why so concerned? That's highly outta character for you Hera."
The second the last bit has left his mouth he was greeted with a glare.
Hera pouted as they grumbled with a spoonful of ice cream in her mouth. already.
"I just don't want trouble Mr. Know it all and in complete control." Hera said in a pout as she turned her focus on the frozen treat.
He only smiled and chuckled as he had called her out perfectly. Little Hera has a heart how cute. He smiled until he panned his focus elsewhere.
The News was playing on the small counter television of the cafe. The latest heighst and fight of last night was being broadcasted.
"Hm. I'd say it's time to get going Hera." He closed his laptop after saving what work he had done.
Hera pouted again with a whine in her words.
"Really! We just got here..." She got up anyway as she cleaned up her mess "Lucas your a total buzzkill sometimes I swear."
Luca chuckles at her response putting on his coat and leaving a tip at their table. There was work to be done and he hated getting behind on the to do list. Hera followed him out close after waving farewell to her favorite waitress.
From the warmth and safety of the home like cafe they entered the cool breeze of the city. The large bustling city of Skylight was awake 24/7. Home to several of the greatest heroes of America. Yet also let the darkest forms of evil rest in the shadows. Especially the shadows casted from the tallest building in the bright city.
Justice Tower as the locals call it as they look up to the glorified trophy. The building towered over the rest as if in a race to reach the heavens above. Decorated for it's ungodly feat of height in bronze golden statues. Statues of heroes of the world proudly protecting the building. Inside however wasn't all that glorious..
Especially within the meeting rooms held on evenings like this.
"Your being far to easy on him! It's like your not even trying!" The large woman shouted at her spot around the large wooden table.
The recpericant of the criticism flinched and puffed up in defense.
"That's rich seeing you have room to talk. Our greatest villain was dealt with better by me than our so called greatest hero!" They shouted back striking a nerve.
"What you did was pure luck." Came the response cold and full of warning.
"Ophelia! Marcus! Enough! What matters most right now is the public's general safety. As long as that man walks free they're all in jeapordy." The third stepped in angrily.
"You both have failed to catch him on numerous occasions and costed us millions. And I've bout had it up to hear with you both. This behavior is unfitting of our top two heroes and unproductive." The Warden scolded in anger clear on his aged face.
The two sat back egos deflating abit as they were scolded. It made Ophelia's blood boil as if she were a kid being talked down too.
The notorious villain Nightmare was a tricky one. Ophelia being the only hero being close to touching the man. He was a slippery as soap and shiftier than a fox. He's never clear on his intentions and almost every move he makes is calluclated. No one knows what he was planning until it was to late.
There were things from years ago that there just finding out about.
The incident as of late was an outright attack on Marcus's behalf. The flame powered hero jumped on the opportunity to attack. However he wasn't counting on the villain to not only know his location but to have company. However in the end... Nightmare still carried out his objective meaning he had still won the fight.
The Warden scowled as he stood by the open window of the room.
He was pissed.
Ophelia was just waiting for the ruling punishment. She's been in this situation far to often to not be able to know what was coming.
She'll be undercover for a month.
Or be stuck in the office.
Any to all dreadful and painfully boring and taxing duties no one wants to do. However that never came that evening.
Instead a shake and a low rumbling boom instead filled the room. The Warden quickly shut the window taking a step back in shock. Ophelia and Markus however was quick to take his place at the window. From the distance a large dust cloud was reaching up into the sky.
"What in the heavens..." The Warden stampered before regaining control.
"Markus. Ophelia we will continue this discussion later. It's quiet obvious you're both needed..." The Warden dismissed and pointed to the massive cloud dusting over the city.
"Yes sir!"
