Right, here it is! Next chapter. Sorry it took so long, I struggled with actually writing it out.

I also apologise for the doom and gloom in this one too, but reality is hitting these guys hard. You see a little bit of a deeper side to Cassandra, a darker one. She's not a total floosie, so don't think she doesn't have depth, her character will develop as we advance.

Please feel free to drop a comment in at the end, it's always nice to know the views of as many different people, good or bad.

Anyway, that's me. As always; read, comment, enjoy!

The television was off, the house quiet. No one spoke as we all sat in silence, contemplating the new turn of events. A tense silence bred panic and fear as each of us were living in our own nightmares.

"I-is this... real?" Argent whispered under his breath.

I silently turned my head to look at him, turning from the black screen. He was slumped forward, shoulders dropped and head hanging. His hands lay open in his lap, limp as the weight of reality set in. His downward cast eyes had lost their twinkle and spark of life, gazing off into nothing. He lifted his head a little and tilted it towards me, meeting my gaze with his own defeated pair.

His eyes were imploring me to tell him 'no' and that it was all a bad dream. His desperation was the only thing reflected in his eyes, his entire body filled with that cruel hope that it was all a joke. I turned away, guilt crushing me.

"Yeah." I whispered back just as quietly. "Yeah, it is." I continued to stare back at the blank screen, feeling Argent's depression, fear and anxiety wash over my body in waves.

We sat silent again.

What would become of this? Would it all end here? Slowly falling into the waiting arms of those who wish to trap us, torture us and kill us? If it was found out that either of these two were supers, they'd be captured and interrogating, resulting in my joining their death sentence. If others found out about-

No! No, it won't happen.

But that thought brought little comfort. The future was bleak. This was the beginning of the end. It was all over now. The supers would be no more.

I huffed out a sigh and fell backward into the sofa, falling limp against the cushions. How long would it be before they found us? How long would I live relatively free before I was dragged off somewhere and 'dealt with'? The future really was bleak, and it sucked- big time.

I rolled my head to one side to get a view of Argent, still frozen in place and staring with an unseeing gaze into the space my body had just occupied, still slumped over with defeat. I rolled my head to the other side to look at Jet, hunch forward, elbows resting on his legs and clasped hands under his chin, eyes boring into the television screen like mine previously had. I rolled my head back to look up at the white ceiling above me, eyes locking onto the crack in the plaster from the time Jenny tried to stab a spider with the handle of the floor brush.

The silence was strangling, writhing around us like an unseen monster, whispering evil into our ears. I hated silence, but at least I wasn't alone.

I hated solitude.

I rubbed the skin on the inner side of the joint of my arm. I rolled my left shouldered. The silence was consuming me, letting my darker thoughts run rampant with no source of distraction. My foot twitched slightly.

"I once knew this girl, Stella." My quiet voice sliced through the quiet, my tone light, almost carefree. "I hated her. At least, I thought I did. I was seven, so I didn't know what hatred was, what it is, but I was fully convinced she was the devil incarnate." Neither boy gave much of a reaction, but I knew; they were listening, clinging with every fibre of their being to whatever could drag them out of this mess, even if it was temporary rubbish about some girl's childhood. "I even made Alanna and my other friend at the time, Kate, join me in making an oath to bring about the end of the 'Abhorrent Stella'."
