Overview: Mark was a good friend of Yang Xiao Long when they were kids, classmates at Signal. Then, Yang went to Beacon and Mark stayed on Patch, working in his father's business. One fateful day, he volunteered to be a councilor at Patch's yearly summer camp. And who else should be volunteering her time there, but Yang herself. Having spent more than a year apart, the two catch up on old times and...reconnect in new ways. *OC/Yang*

Mark leaned back in his chair. He groaned and pulled at the neck of his shirt. It was blistering hot in the camp's office on the beach of Patch. The AC was broken and the heat was causing Mark to sweat as he filled out the paperwork for the day.

It was day one of Patch's Summer Camp program and he was the only one there. Patch was a small island so there were never very many campers there, but there were always at least three counselors; one Head and two Volunteers. The Head Counselor, a woman named Violet, was busy taking the kids on a short hike in the woods. Mark stayed behind to do some last minute paperwork for the camp. Violet had been Head Counselor for almost forty years and while physically fit, her age sometimes caused her to forget important business in running the camp. Fortunately Mark, who's grandfather ran a Dust shop in Vale and often hired Mark part time, was pretty familiar at running a business at that point and volunteered to help her out. He began regretting it as soon as Violent left and the AC unit died. The other counselor was supposed to be here hours ago, but Mark hadn't heard from them yet. Hope they're actually going to show up and didn't ditch us, he thought, leaning his head back and closing his eyes. He really didn't want to be in charge of a group of kids with no one to talk to but the aging Violet or work with someone who was going to be habitually late.

The door opened and the draft from the opening sent the papers on the desk flying. Mark yelped and snatched at them before they blew away, but suddenly stopped as he heard a female voice. "Mark? Is that you?"

Mark looked up and saw a young woman with long yellow hair standing in the doorway. Wearing a yellow tank top covered by a light brown jacket, black short shorts, and an orange scarf-like fabric around her neck, she stood, hands on her hips, motorcycle helmet under one arm. She wore two golden bracelets on her wrists and black fingerless gloves and her almost violet eyes were sparkling with energy and mischief. Mark recognized her immediately; Yang Xiao Long, wild child of Taiyang Long, one of Mark's old instructors from Signal. He and Yang were good friends in school, always hanging out and often getting into trouble thanks to Yang's short temper and her habit of pulling pranks on school bullies. Unfortunately, while they were good friends, Yang's interests revolved around being a Huntress, a warrior, and an adventurer and Mark's involved business and science, not to mention Mark, while a decent fighter, never came close to approaching the level of training needed at a prestigious school like Beacon Academy, where Yang eventually ended up at. He eventually decided to study to take over the family business, the Dust shop his grandfather owned and his father was a supplier. He saw Yang off on the day she left with some of her other friends and Yang had given him a huge hug and promised to write.

While they did communicate fairly often, the last two semesters had been busy for the both of them, not to mention the Grimm attack on Vale that occurred earlier that year. Mark and Yang both had spent weeks helping Vale get back to normal after the destruction downtown, but separately, and letters grew more and more infrequent. Seeing her now, Mark thought she hadn't changed a bit, just a bit bigger and more muscular. His eyes flickered over her chest, wondering in the back of his mind if it was the same top she wore almost a year ago, and if it was maybe getting a little too small; her curves were very noticeable in her tight outfit. Yang strode in, tossing the helmet onto a nearby chair before striding around the desk and grabbing Mark in a bear hug. Mark hugged back, even as all the air was nearly crushed out of his lungs.
