The realization that I had left (Y/N) by himself on the Arch didn't hit me until after the lady that looked like my mother had talked to me.
I was still underwater, not even wet, and I had just grabbed Riptide and thanked my father for saving me.
That's when I remembered. I let out a curse and slammed my head on the sand.
I couldn't do anything to the Chimera. He told me he could handle it, but I knew he was lying. And yet I still jumped. What kind of friend was I? I had left him to die alone up there.
I also remembered that the little boy, his parents, and the park ranger were up there too. I had let them die too.
I tried to stop them, but tears still began to roll down my cheeks.
Chiron told me that something bad would happen if I took three people with me. And that was (Y/N)'s death. I slammed my fist on the ground angrily.
"Why are you crying?" I heard a voice ask. I thought I had imagined it, but when I looked up I saw a girl.
She had bright red hair and a green flowing dress. Under the dress I saw a fish tail the color of lime.
A mermaid? She kind of looked like Ariel from The Little Mermaid.
I ignored her and wiped my face.
"Hey! I asked you a question. It's not nice to not answer someone." The girl put her hands on her hips and scowled.
"What do you want?" I said, a little harsher than I meant to.
She looked surprised at my tone before glaring at me. "How rude! I'm just checking to see if you're okay."
"I'm obviously not," I mumbled.
"What happened?"
I didn't even care at this point. "I left my friend to die on the Arch." Just talking about it made me want to punch myself for being so stupid.
"You left your friend to die?" She looked shocked. I don't blame her.
I nodded. "He told me to jump, and that he would take care of everything, but I know he was trying to make me feel better. And I listened to him like an idiot!"
The girl blinked. "It sounds like he wanted you to leave him."
I glared at her. "He did! And I listened to him! I'm such a moron!"
The girl looked confused. The tears kept coming down. She huffed and looked up.
"Is that your friend falling?" she asked.
"What?"
"Is that your friend falling?" she repeated.
I wiped my eyes and looked up. I squinted and saw a dark shape falling towards the water. It looked like a person.
I shot up out of the water to get a better look. I saw familiar (H/C) hair and that (F/C) jacket. It was him! It was (Y/N)!
"Save him!" I yelled.
The girl that looked like Ariel popped her head out of the water. "What?"
"You have to save him! Please!" I begged.
"Only if you stop crying and show me a smile," she said as she smirked.
"What? We don't have time for—"
