*Scarlett's P.O.V*
I woke up to a gunshot. I shot up out of my sleep.
"Ethan?" I called out. No answer. "Ethan." Nothing. I went to shake my husband who was by my side. "James get up." I turned to see that there was blood on the bed. I looked over to see my husband James. Shot in the head. "James?" Soon I felt tears weld up in my eyes. "James. Wake up. Ethan needs us." Nothing. "No. No. No."
He was dead.
Soon my head shot up and I grabbed the gun that was on my nightstand. I loaded it and got ready. I slowly walked up to my door.
"Ethan? Sweetie. It's mommy. Say something if your okay," I said. Nothing. I turned the doorknob and opened it. I held my gun in front of me as I slowly walked out. I turned a corner and saw a body on the ground. "Ethan. Ethan gets up." Nothing. Soon I finally look down to see blood. I drop my gun to my side and ran over to see my two-year-old son on the ground. He was shot in the chest. I set the gun next to me as I picked him up. "Ethan. No. No. You are still here. Stay with me." Soon I heard footsteps. I let go of Ethan's dead body and quickly picked up my gun. I closed my eyes and shot off two guns at the exit door. I open my eyes to see the door open and no one was there.
I took a deep breath.
This can't be happening to me.
My son and husband are dead.
And it's my fault.

I shot up out of my sleep and looked around. The side that my late husband usually slept on was still made.
I never touch that side because it reminded me too much of him. This whole apartment reminds me of my son and my husband.
Why don't I move? Because I needed to find their killer. And in this apartment were hundreds of killers.
I moved out of bed and got ready. I wore a red top, red shorts and red high heels. I did my makeup and grabbed my messenger bag. I decided to go to my local coffee shop to get some coffee and food. I couldn't stay one more minute in this place. I walked out and locked my door behind me. I could feel glaring eyes on me. I turned to see my upstairs neighbour Ruby.
We have talked maybe once. But I don't trust her. Why? I'll get to that a bit later.
I walked to the elevator and pressed down. The elevator came and I got in. I hit the main floor and soon the elevator closed. It didn't take long for the elevator to get to the main floor. The doors opened and I walked out. I walked out the two doors and straight to my car. Before I got inside, I looked underneath the car for any bombs.
Nothing.
I open the car door and put the keys in the ignition. I start up the car and leave the apartment.

I was in my favourite cafe at a table by myself. I had my chessboard and chess pieces out. I decided to play against myself since no one ever played with me. Not long a coffee and a piece of the banana loaf were set on the side. I smiled and looked up to see my favourite barista, Jenna.
"Hey Jenna," I said.
"Hey Scar," She says.
"You didn't have to bring my stuff over. I am capable to walk over and grab it myself," I said.
"No. You look like you're having an intense game with yourself. Who's winning?" She asked.
"Me," I said with a smile. She chuckles.
"I better get back to work," She says.
"Okay. Thank you," I said as I take a sip of my coffee. She smiles and walks away. After a few minutes, I felt someone hovering over me. I looked up to see a tall man with light brown hair and hazel eyes. Soon his eyes met mine.
"I'm sorry to be a creep, but are you playing chess alone?" He asked me.
"Well, no one here is intelligent enough to understand it, so, yeah," I said.
"I might be," He says. I sat back and looked at him. I put out a hand to offer him the seat across me. He hesitates but sits down. Soon he moves one of his chess pieces.
"Guess I found a worthy opponent," I said. He laughs and I went.

"Checkmate," I said looking at him. The brown hair man was looking at the board. I smirked. "Don't worry. Your learning."
"I never lose," He says. I smiled.
"Well, how about this. Tomorrow. If you are around. You can buy me a coffee and we have a rematch," I said. He looks at me.
"Okay," He says. "The name is Spencer Reid."
"Scarlett Simmons. I gotta get to work. I can't be late," I said. Soon he gets up and helps me with my chess pieces.
"Same here," He says as he hands me the chess pieces he had in his hands. I grabbed them and set them in my messenger bag. I grabbed the board and shoved it in my bag.
"It was nice meeting you Scar," He says.
"Nice meeting you too Reid," I said. He smiles and walks out of the cafe. A few moments later I walked out and to my car. I started it up and left the cafe.

So it has been a while since I did a Spencer Reid book, and this kind of thing has always been in the back of my mind. So. Hopefully, the book is good and along the way please tell me how it is.
