changkyun didn't think this far. not even once. but today was... different than every other day. here he was, standing on the edge of a rooftop building. what made him do this? he doesn't know himself. heavy rain was pouring and he could barely see due to the fogginess. it was quiet in the neighbourhood — well, it was quiet after hyungwon passed. he stills remembers that specific day where hyungwon disappeared from his life forever. at least that's what changkyun believes.
the rain started pouring down more heavily and he was soaked wet at this point. changkyun could hear the lightning strike by, but he couldn't care less. he couldn't care when his beloved was gone; that 'beloved' is hyungwon. chae hyungwon. the sunshine of changkyun's life. everyone had their special someone, and changkyun believed hyungwon was his. maybe, just maybe, he could call hyungwon his... soulmate? changkyun doesn't believe in soulmates or any of that lovey dovey shit but this time, it's different.
nobody could give him the same amount of euphoria hyungwon gave him. it sounds cliche, but it's true. he loved hyungwon more than anyone and anything. hyungwon was his will to live. his serotonin. his everything. but sadly, he couldn't experience any real life interaction with his beloved anymore. he wishes he could be in the afterlife with his love but no matter how much he tries, he always ends up alive. changkyun hates the fact that he has to live and suffer alone - without his precious hyungwonnie. recalling all those moments, changkyun had no strength anymore and dropped to his knees, almost sliding off the edge but thankfully not.
"my hyungwonnie, please come back. i... need you," changkyun sobs out, having some difficulty breathing due to the panic attack he's having. his hand clutches on the beige cardigan hyungwon handed him a week before he passed away. hyungwon's scent was washed away by the heavy rain pouring and changkyun cursed the rain for that. the cardigan was one of the top reasons he's still living. changkyun sobbed even heavier as the clouds got darker.
a few minutes passed by, and changkyun could regain his normal breathing again. he took a deep breath and let go of his grip on the cardigan. the weather, however, got worse as his eyes stung by the rain getting in his eyes. wiping the rain out, changkyun gets up slowly but carefully. he thinks to himself, why do i need to live when my baby hyungwonnie is gone?
changkyun still can't accept the fact that his beloved was... gone. just like everyone that was in his life. but he didn't care about anyone except for hyungwon. it was expected. although hyungwon was gone, his mindset made him believe that hyungwon was still alive and right beside him, but only hyungwon's presence.
"thank you, hyungwon, for bringing me a purpose in life. i love you so much, my darling, i hope we never ever seperate," was changkyun's last words before he dropped to the concrete. his wish is granted; him being able to live a happy life with hyungwon.

"and that was how he died, happily of course!" dr yoo says, yawning before closing the thick book in his hands. the children looked up to him in amusement before clapping and cheering. "dr yoo, the story was amazing! it was super sad though..." one of the small children beams, a glimpse of sadness in her eyes, however. kihyun smiles at the children looking up to him. even though he was just a doctor to them, he was sure he was a father figure to them.
"alright, kids! time to get ready for bed and i'll tuck you in!" kihyun says energetically with a huge grin. all of the children nod and giggled while going to their respective bathrooms. kihyun sighed in tiredness as he plopped down on a bench near the window of the room. today was tiring but also fun - at least for kihyun. the children may have enjoyed the story, but one fact that they don't know is that the story is real. the story of how a man killed himself to be with his love in the afterlife. what made it more 'weird' is that they are both men; the same gender. some people in korea found it weird for the same gender to love each other, but hyungwon and changkyun didn't care. all they cared about was each other. no one else. kihyun hopes that one day, the kids find their real loves. especially when kihyun's love was also gone. tears were at the brim of his eyes as he reminisced the memories with jooyeon. sadly, jooyeon passed away with a disease aka cancer. he still would never love someone else, which keeps his promise to never love someone else the same way he loves jooyeon.
kihyun wipes his tears away and smiles at the beautiful sunset. the sunset that reminds him of changkyun and hyungwon. a happily ever after.
