[ORIGINAL CHAPTER]
As the car pulled up to the restaurant, I became nervous "you ok" Nat asked, concerned "yeah I'm good just nervous" I said as I smiled at her and grabbed my bag before waving at her before she drove away and I headed inside. As I entered the restaurant, I looked around until I saw Christopher seated at a table. As he noticed me, he smiled and said "Hey" Christopher said with a huge grin on his face.
As I approached, he stood up and moved my seat before I could sit down. "Thank you," I replied as he returned to his chair and sat down.
"Thankyou," I said as I took the menus from the waiter's hand, "you look beautiful," Christopher said happily, which made me smile, "you don't look too bad yourself," I said, which made him laugh, "I'm glad you said yes," Christopher said, which made me smile because I had been nervous for the date, but now I felt comfortable and happy around him, which was strange because I hadn't felt that way in a long time."
After we placed our orders, we sat and ate diner before ordering drinks. "So, are you from Chicago? Your accent is a little different," Christopher asked, which was a difficult question because of my family history; my mother fled Chicago when I was a year old because of my father, a married and crooked cop Hank Voight, who I had never met despite the fact that I was in the same city as him.
I didn't want to tell Christopher who he was because of his Firehouse 51 history. "Yeah, I was born here, but my mother and I moved away from Chicago, so I spent most of my childhood in New York and other places," I said, which seemed to irritate him a little. "so why did you want to be a fire fighter?" I asked as I sipped my wine and looked up at Christopher.
Christopher responded with a large grin on his face, "just the job I've always wanted to do since I was a kid," which made me smile. After a few more drinks, we went outside to end the night. "Before you leave, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed tonight," Christopher said as he reached for my hand. "Me too," I smiled and looked into his eyes.
As he looked into my eyes before standing so close to me and placing his hand on my cheek before leaning in to kiss me, I smiled as we kissed because I hadn't kissed or been this close to someone in a long time because I was so used to my own company or Connors that I had forgotten about love or relationships.
As our kiss ended, I smiled and placed my hand on his cheek, looking into his eyes. "Thankyou," I said, which seemed to confuse him. "For making me smile," I said as we both chuckled, "oh your welcome then," Christopher added perplexed while chuckling. "Can I see you again?" Christopher asked, his tone both sad and happy. "Yes," I replied quickly because I acted on my emotions.
"All right, then," Christopher replied, "may I walk you home?" As we began to walk to my place, Christopher said, "yes that would be fantastic" because we had both been drinking and couldn't drive.
As we walked, Christopher slipped his hand into mine; I didn't say anything or look at him; instead, I smiled to myself and held his hand tightly. In most professions, you are not allowed to date the victims of your jobs or patients however, as his doctor, I spent a lot of time with him caring for him, and I had bonded with him before I had even spoken to him.
As we returned to my apartment, I stood at the door, not wanting to go inside because I wanted to spend more time with him. "So that's me," I said as I looked at my door and then at Christopher. "Do you really need to go inside?" Christopher asked, disappointed. "Well do you want to come inside?" I asked, looking at him as he smiled. "Yeah," Christopher said happily as I grabbed my keys and opened the door before we both stepped in.
"Nice place you got here," Christopher said as he looked around my apartment. "Yeah, a doctors salary isn't that bad," I said with a chuckle as I turned to face him. "You want another drink," I said as I showed him a bottle of red wine. With a broad grin on his face, Christopher answered, "Absolutely." As I poured each of us a glass of wine, we stood there drinking our wine and staring at each other, my wine glass covering my smile.
I stared into his eyes after a few glasses of wine and sat on the couch before leaning in to kiss him. I'm not sure what came over me but being in his company seemed to transform me before I pushed him into the couch pillow "fine then," Christopher said flirtatiously as I led him into my bedroom.
The next morning, I awoke to find Christopher fast asleep next to me, so I quietly tried to grab a blanket and head to the shower, but I must have woken him up because I heard a noise behind me as I tried to cover myself up with the blanket. "Morning," Christopher said with a grin on his face as I tried to cover myself up with the blanket. "Morning," I said with a smile on my face. "I was just about to have a shower unless you want to join me" I said biting my lip.
After our shower, I changed and headed to work, dropping Christopher off at the firehouse along the way. "Thanks for the night, but see you later," I said as we kissed, but our kiss was interrupted by a knock on the window, so we stopped and Christopher glared as I rolled down the window to see a firefighter they called Mouch. "What do you want," Christopher said angrily as Mouch looked at us with a grin on his face.
"Looks like you had a good night," Mouch replied, drawing a blank gaze from Christopher. "I'd better go," Christopher muttered before kissing my cheek.
"See you later," I said, smiling as I drove away before heading to work. When I arrived at the car park, I saw Connor waiting by his car. "Good morning," Connor said, sounding interested. "How did your night go?" Connor asked, sounding interested. "Good, but it lasted longer than the night," I said, making Connor laugh. "Yeah, I'm glad you aren't turning into a nun," Connor said as I punched him in the arm.
Nat was waiting for us as we entered the ER. "Morning, how did the date go?" Nat inquired, sounding intrigued. "Good," I replied, trying to keep the date information to a minimum. "more than good, he stayed the night," Connor said as I punched him with an angry look on my face. "ooh," Nat said with a huge smile on her face. "While you lot gossip about my date, I'm going to get changed," I said as I headed to the locker room to get changed into my scrubs for the shift.
