The Truth

My adrenaline was pumping  as I was speeding down the highway. What are they going to tell me? Maybe this was some horrible dream I was having. Just then a feather brushed by my face, the soft, silky, delicate feather reminded me it wasn't. I let out a sigh and began thinking once more. Would they still talk to me, even after I snapped at them? Of course they would... I mean if they want me to believe them, they would have to.

I made a sharp left down Jessie's street. The tires screeched from underneath me, sending more adrenaline through me. I looked at every house until I found the one I always went to whenever i had trouble.

I pulled into their driveway and put the buggy in park. I got out of the car, almost slamming my wings between the door. I didn't really know how to put them away, so i let them drag behind me as i climbed the two steps to the front door. I was about to knock, but then i hesitated. Thoughts began running through my mind. What if they don't want to talk to me anymore? I mean I snapped really bad at Jessie, and Vincent... Ugh! why am I such jerk?

I looked at my hand that was raised to knock on the door, and slowly put it back down by my side. I started stepping backwards, wanting to get as far away as possible from this house. A sharp pain went through my wing, making me yelp. I slipped on my wings, falling hard on my back, which left me breathless. The front door open making the light from inside shine onto me.

"Deana?" Jessie's voice ringing with confusion got closer to me. I felt my cheeks heat up, so i tried hiding my face, and not make myself look more ridiculous than i already did. But that didn't work. I began getting up, but my stupid wings made my feet stumble again. I felt protective arms wrap around my waist, helping me back onto my feet. I look up to find Jessie's face inches from mine. He had a huge smirk on his face, trying to hold back laughter I'm guessing. I can't believe he held it in this long.

"I don't want to hear it Jess," I began. " I just want to know what is going on with me." My voice was stern.

He sighed and the smirk vanished from his face. He let me go with a swift motion, and ran a hand through his hair. "Then come inside, we've been expecting you," he gestured the door with his hand, and smiled a small smile.

"We?" I questioned.

He just smiled a little bit wider and took my hand in his. He guided me inside to the front door, and went into the living room.

Inside, it felt welcoming. His house was smaller than mine, but it always had that sense of welcome to it, so I always loved coming here. The vibrant red walls with the beautiful red couches placed around the mahogany fireplace. By the window laid out beautiful light brown curtains that remained closed, and the wooden floors set the place just right to me.

After taking in the surroundings, I realized that i started feeling a certain presence that kept calling to me. I looked toward the feeling, and realized it was Vincent. His eyes glowed once i stepped through the door and noticed him. A sudden rush of heat flowed through me once i met his eyes, filling me with energy that i always secretly loved. A smile began tugging at my lips, as the energy flowed through me. But then my wings brushed against my calf. My smile dropped as I remembered what i was, what had happened ever since he came here. Ever since he kissed me.

I turned away from him, not caring if I hurt him- or myself- because I was no longer a love-struck teen. At least not a normal one. Then i felt another energy. One that was hyper, energetic, and full with life. My head snapped in that direction. And there she sat on the opposite side of the room of Vincent. Her brown hair curved around her small face which showed nothing but excitement. Leanne. She smiled at me, excited that i was finally here. My heart fell to my stomach. She knew about all of this too? And she didn't tell me anything, not even warn me? I though she was my best friend.

She must have known what I was thinking, 'cause just then her face dropped, her energy gone. Pain flashed across her face. I just sighed, dropped my head, and sat as far away as I could from the two of them. I glanced down at my hands that laid in my lap. Tears threatened to fall from eyes, but i pushed them, forcing them to stay there, to not show that I'm not weak.

"Alright then. Deana, let's get down to business," Jessie said in a stern voice. This is where the story begins.
