I never knew what this thing was on my arm. It's a count down of some sort. A count down for what though? I have no idea. I figured I should ask my mom, considering she has one too.
"Hey mom, I have a question about this thing on my arm?" I said. "What do you mean, honey?" My mom replied with confusion. "Like.. Why is it in my arm? Why is it counting down? What does it mean? Why can't I take it out of my arm?" I started rambling. "Hazel, honey, take a breath. Everyone has one. You see, when babies are born, since today's technology is so advanced, doctors can predict when you'll cease to exist.." My mom basically whispered the last few words. I stood there trying to figure out what she said. "Cease to what?" I responded with curiosity. My mom sighs then starts to talk again. Except this time, louder. "Cease to exist. Meaning; when you're going to pass away." Wait. Did I just hear her correctly? Cease to exist.. I guess my mom saw I was in thought and spoke again, "Don't worry about it too much, sweetie. Look at your arm, you have plenty of time. The number all the way to the left, is how many years you have. Then months. Days. Hours. Minuets, and lastly, seconds." As she was explaining what the numbers meant, I looked down at my left arm. 65:7:26:14:8
I looked back at my mom, "Sixty-Five years, seven months, twenty-six days, fourteen minuets, and eight seconds."
"When you were born, and the doctors put it in your arm, it said, '82:10:7:06:36'" my mom said while smiling.
"That's my birthdate.." I replied, realizing too much at one time.
