The Invisible Library

"Do you want to see the invisible library?" A black haired kindergartner named Abony asked a blonde girl.

"Sure," Emily, the blonde girl replied. Abony nudged her cousin, Fern, and smiled wickedly.

"Just follow us!" Fern chirped.

Fern and Abony led the poor girl to the fence. Emily said, puzzled, "We aren't allowed to be here, guys! I just heard the bell ring! We're going to get in trouble!"

"Don't be such a goodie-goo!" Abony sneered.

Fern quickly interrupted, "Is that even a word?" They both laughed out loud.

Emily giggled shyly, "But we have to go! And where's the Library?"

Fern laughed, "It's invisible, you can't see it, so..."

"Bye Emi! Have a nice time getting in trouble!" Abony finished for her friend. They raced away, cackling.

"Ms. Connor! Ms. Connor!" chanted the two kindergartners, "Emi went outside the school fence! She broke the rules!"

"Oh my god!" Ms. Connor gasped. She ran to the phone and dialed the principal. "Girls, you are dismissed."

After the girls exited the classroom, they heard the usual crackle of the intercom. They smiled wickedly and burst out in giggles.

"Emily Commit, please come to the office. I repeat, Emily Commit, please come to the office." A voice announced

The girls had another fit of giggles

Abony and Fern raced to the office, where they hid in a bush near the principal's window. They peered through the window and saw Emily and the principal in the conference room. Principal Maston had a stern look on his face.

Their voices leaked through the window.

"Now from what I've heard you have snuck out of the school unaccompanied by an adult." Principal Maston said in his usual scruffy voice

Emily whined "But Principal Maston, Fern and Abony led me out of the school! It was a scam! I promise!"

"So it was, I will talk to Fern and Abony. Thank you, you are dismissed."

Fern wiggled uncomfortably in her seat. "These thorns are hurting me!"

"Shush! Be quiet! Emi's walking out! Did you hear anything? We have to talk to Principal Maston!"

Just a few seconds later they heard a door open and slam shut.

Someone sniffled, "What is mommy going to say? I'm going to be in so much trouble! They did lure me out! Ugh! I hate them!"

"Is she talking about us?" Abony whispered to Fern.

"I think so."

Fern and Abony heard the crackle once again.

"Fern Hydid and Abony Dert, please come to the office. I repeat, Fern Hydid and Abony Dert, please come to the office."

"Uh-oh. Remember to deny, ok?" Abony reminded Fern.

"Ok, I'm scared."

Slowly and cautiously, they walked towards the door. Once they got inside they sat on the waiting chairs.

"So, why did you call us to the office?" Abony asked politely

"Principal Maston wanted to talk to you." The vice principal said while pointing towards the direction of the conference room door where the principal was waiting.

"Hello Fern and Abony! Do you know why I brought you here today?" Principal Maston said as they sat down at the conference table.

Fern cocked her head with a fake, confused look on her face. Abony and Fern had practiced this look with each other multiple times.

"What do you mean?" Was Abony's instant response. She had figured out about what he was going to say and had practiced responses for all of them.

"I just talked to Emily and she said that you two lured her out of the school. Now, did you actually do this? I know you two are very nice girls and would never do such a thing." Principal Maston explained.

Fern insisted, "No, I don't know what you are talking-"

"What does lure mean?" Abony interrupted

"Lure means to tempt someone to go somewhere by using a prize or reward." Principal Maston said.

The black haired girl tested the word on her tongue, "lore... lu-er... lure!."

"We are being honest. We didn't do anything." Fern finished the conversation.

"Ok girls. Thank you. I will find some way to punish Emily. You two are dismissed to go back to class."

"Thank you!" Abony and Fern chirped together. They both jumped out of their chairs and walked to the door of the office. Then, they ran. The two friends ran until they got to the classroom. They looked around to see if anyone was watching, then they high-fived and broke into another fit of giggles. They skipped into the classroom happily.
