As soon as Jin puts June in her bed, and she mumbles in her half asleep state about Jin coming to bed soon, he whispers a promise in her ear before backing away and quickly making his way to the bathroom.
He turns on the sink, the hot water causing billowing steam to surround him and fog the mirror as he grabs the two body wash bottles from the shower. He empties his, making sure not a drop is left before throwing it in the trash, and then he nearly empties June's, leaving only a small amount - just like he told Lily.
After replacing June's body wash in the shower, Jin turns the sink off, moving his hand to wipe the condensation away from the mirror.
It's been harder and harder to ignore the ache he feels around Lily - the ache he knows won't go away until he can call Lily his.
That moment on the couch between the two of them, in Jin's mind, proves that there is a chance for the two of them.
She'll see that he was telling the truth; she'll see his empty body wash bottle in the trash and June's nearly empty one in the shower. She'll accept that it was a dream - that she didn't see him standing in her doorway that night. He won't ever go in her room again, unless he is invited, of course.
He will prove to her, each and every day, that he loves her.
Every honey and sun-kissed inch of her.
A knock on the door brings Jin out of his thoughts, sweat beading on the forehead from the residual warmth of the steam.
Jin clears his throat, using the bottom of his shirt to wipe the sweat from his face before opening the bathroom door.
"I need to shower," Lily says, not making eye contact.
"Lily," Jin says, silently pleading for her to just look at him with those challenging eyes that dare him to do better - to be everything for her.
Lily sighs, realizing Jin isn't going to move out of the bathroom.
"Things are tense between us," Jin says, his heart pounding. "I don't like it. Tell me how to fix it."
"Jin," she says, shaking her head as her eyes stare at his shirt instead of his eyes. "Things have been really weird lately. At first, it was fine but now it just keeps piling up and I can't keep just ignoring it all."
"What are you even talking about?" Jin asks, throwing his arms out in frustration. "Nothing weird is happening."
"A pair of my underwear went missing," she says, finally looking up to glare at him.
Jin sighs. "Your sister told me she thought they were hers until you threw that tantrum in the kitchen. She knew you would never believe her if she said it was an accident because you were so sure she took them on purpose."
Lily purses her lips. "I saw you in my room that night."
"I'm not going to say you didn't," Jin shrugs. "I don't ever want to call you a liar. I may have been sleepwalking. I did it as a child but I thought I outgrew it. I haven't done it in years, but I've been feeling really stressed about my job so that can cause it to flare back up."
Lily sighs. "What about going into my room without permission?"
"All I did was clean it," Jin says, his gaze falling to the floor. "I know you like things to be clean, and I know you haven't had time to do much cleaning so I wanted to surprise you. I wanted you to come home to your comfort space being cleaned. I'm so sorry that made you uncomfortable. I really had no idea it would make you feel so bad."
"And the use of my body wash?" she asks, crossing her arms over her chest.
Jin lets out a slow breath before turning to point to the trash can, which has some trash in it that he shifts out of the way for Lily to see his empty body wash bottle beneath it. "Like I told you earlier."
"Maybe you poured it out just now," Lily says and Jin laughs.
"Do you hear yourself, Lily?" he asks. "Stealing your panties, watching you sleep, dumping body wash down the drain so I have an excuse to use yours. How long have you known me? Do you really think I'm that kind of person?"
Lily takes a moment to think through everything, her eyebrows furrowing. "Saying it like that does make it sound kind of crazy."
Jin laughs, a weight lifting off his chest as his hands move to rest on Lily's upper arms. "It's not crazy. I really am so sorry that I've ever made you feel like that is the type of person I am. I promise, I care so much for you and I would never compromise what I have with you and June."
Lily slowly nods her head before sending Jin a small smile. "I'm sorry for accusing you of being a creep."
"I understand," Jin says, grinning at her as he pulls away. "I'm gonna head to bed now. I'll see you in the morning."
"Goodnight, Jin," she says, her tone genuine and Jin's heart as light as a feather.
