"June, I have no idea," he says, and he takes a step toward her. Though, when she looks up with her teary eyes alight with fury, he takes a step back again.

"Don't fucking lie to me," she says through gritted teeth. "Lily thought I took these, and I figured she must have just lost them. So how the fuck did they end up where I found them?"

"Maybe the last time you did laundry, they were stuck to the sheet because of static," Jin says, shrugging. "How am I supposed to know the answer to this?"

"You took them," she says, nodding slowly as the tears finally fall.

It wasn't a question, but Jin treats it like one.

"No," he says, shaking his head. "Of course I didn't."

"Jin, I'm a lot of things," she says, standing up with the underwear still clutched tightly in her white-knuckled fist. "I'm insecure. I'm immature. I'm even downright annoying sometimes. But I'm not stupid. I gave you the benefit of the doubt with the rings. I let myself give you a second chance because you seemed so genuine in the fact that you wanted to love me and care for my sister."

"And that's true," Jin says, daring to take a step towards her.

"Is it?" she asks, taking a step closer to him. "You gave her a promise ring. You stole her fucking panties - to what, sniff them and jerk off? You cuddled with her while I was asleep in your fucking lap, Jin. But I was so convinced that you were just being her friend that I wrote it off as that - you being there for my sister as a friend. What? Are you two sleeping together? Or are you just stalking her and stealing her panties?"

Jin shakes his head, holding his hands up. "Neither! She's your sister, and I care for her and cherish her as my friend."

June laughs, though not a hint of humor resides in the chilling sound. "You were standing in her room that night, weren't you? You were fucking watching her sleep and probably ran away when you woke her up."

Jin just shakes his head, words failing as he tries to reason with his girlfriend.

"You're a psycho," June says, nodding to herself as she turns away, the tears shining on her face as she holds her fists to her forehead. "How long have you been doing creepy shit like this, huh? Were you stalking me before you even met us? Were you really stuck in the road that day?"

Jin opens his mouth to answer but June cuts him off by throwing the underwear at his chest. "Get the fuck out of my house. If I even see you look at my sister or at me, I'll turn you in to the police and get your disgusting ass arrested."

Jin begins to panic, fear bubbling in his chest that makes it hard to breathe, hard to think.

"No, please--"

"I'm going to call the police if you don't leave right now," June says, her finger trembling as she points to her closed bedroom door.

"June, don't--"

June takes off the ring, throwing it at his face as she turns away from him.

His eyes widen as she sees her reaching for her phone, and his body goes into auto pilot, the panic enveloping every nerve until all he can hear is the rushing of the blood in his ears and all he can see is the distorted images of June's room as tears fill his eyes.

He grabs her phone from her hands and throws it at the ground, the thin rug on her floor not doing much in terms of protecting it. Through the impact, the two of them see the screen flicker a few times before it goes dark completely.

June glares at Jin, her eyes no longer swimming with strawberry-scented love for the man in front of her.

No, he sees only hatred in her eyes.

"I'm going to scream if you don't leave, Jin," June warns. "My sister will hear and she'll be in here in a split second."

"She's in the shower," Jin says, tears spilling down his cheeks. "And you have no reason to scream. I won't hurt you, I promise."

"If that's true, then move out of my way," she says, her cheeks flushed red from anger and tears. "I'm going to my sister, and you're leaving my house."

Something resembling molten lava spreads from Jin's burning chest, igniting every cell in its wake as it spreads to his face, hands and mind.

It doesn't even fully register that his hands are wrapped around June's throat until he's laying on top of her on the floor, his knees crushing her arms to her sides as she kicks at his back.

The lava, now forming into a creature all on its own, is bleeding from his fingertips, searing into his girlfriend's porcelain skin and painting it the most beautiful shade of lavender he has ever seen.

Slowly, the kicks turn to jerks - the jerks to twitches - the twitches to stillness.

The lava is now spilled out of his body, engulfing his girlfriend until she is in lavender flames. They lick at the sensitive porcelain skin of her throat, the bubblegum of her lips, the strawberry of her hair.

He didn't mean to lie to her. He said he wouldn't hurt her, but he did.

Sometimes, promises need to be broken. She was going to tell his sun-kissed honey girl about what he did, and he would rather die than to make her scared of him again.

Didn't he promise himself that he would be better for her?

This promise - unlike the ones he made to June - he will keep.
