Chapter 11

A few hours later a doctor comes out and tells us that Toby is going to be alright, nothing is broken but he has eye. There is still no sign I Trevor. A few minutes later Toby come out with a huge smile on his face. Sarah and I sprint over to him giving him a big hug and each kissing him on his cheeks (in a friendly way of course).

As we leave the hospital we see someone running down the street. They are wearing ripped skinny jeans, a jacket with one of the sleeves missing, and only has one shoe on. We all stare in awe when we realize that the boy running down the street is Trevor. He looks as he has been running for days. When he reaches us his gray shirt is drenched and his face is completely red. He tries to spit out words but his need for oxygen keeps getting in the way. We lead him back into the hospital asking for a glass of water. After he chugged the bottle of water and finally brought his skin tone to a semi normal color we all stare at him saying nothing until Sarah finally speaks.

“Explain.”

He tells us how he met the girl and she seemed really nice so he started hanging out with her and her friends. This part hit me hard but I kept a straight face not wanting to show any other sign of emotion other than anger.

He then tells us that a few of the people he was hanging out with were drinking, he said that he did not know how strong the drink was because the people he was with seemed pretty chill. They apparently told him that it would hardly affect him and he would still act normal, but apparently right after one glass he just craved more and then just couldn’t stop and that’s when things started to get blurry and he forget everything he was doing.

We sit there for a minute processing what we just heard i look over at Toby who has tears welling in his eyes but quickly wipes them away when he realizes that I am looking.

“Group huddle?” Sarah suggests. Toby, Sarah, and I move a couple feet away and form a little huddle.

“Toby it’s entirely up to you.” I say. Sarah nods her head in agreement. He looks around the room for about a minute then speaks.

“I think that we should forgive him.”

“Are you sure?” sarah asks.

“Yes, I’m sure.” I look over at Trevor who is bouncing his leg and looking around the room frantically as if he is having a panic attack. We all move back over to Trevor he looks up at us with his eyes swelling in tears.

“We forgive you.” Toby says in a stern yet calm tone. Trevor begins to sob

“I’m so sorry.”  He says after a few minutes of blubbering. We just stare at him until I see Toby move out of the corner of my eye. He sits next to Trevor and rubs his back as he cries. I looks over at Sarah who is now making her way over to Trevor and  sits on the other side of him. I then soon do the same and before we know it we are a little mob of people crying happy tears with an occasional chuckle.

Things seem to have finally come back to normal, for now at least.
