When I got there I felt pretty anxious. To quit. To see Alex. To see Carl.

I walked in and it was pretty packed tonight.
I was surprised since it wasn't that late.

I get closer to the bar and I see the back of a familiar friend.

I smile to myself till I get there and he still hasn't turned around to see me across from him.

"What's a gal gotta do to get a drink around here?"

I watch him hesitate as he turns his head slightly looking annoyed before he realizes it's me.

His eyes widen for a split second before they narrow into anger.

"And where the hell have you been?"

I smile greatly at him.

I missed his snarky attitude.

"Oh, you know...here and there."

"It's been like two weeks Jane."

"I know. I'm not here to work."

"I sure hope not. I highly doubt you even have a job anymore," he says now glaring at me as he cleans a glass with a towel.

"I wouldn't bet on it. Alex is...very lenient with me."

I looked at my hands that are pretty clammy.

"So why are you here? To throw another dagger at me?"

I chuckle and he looks puzzled.

"Alright, what's the matter with you?"

"I'm not here to work, I'm here to quit," I say looking at him as he looks at me suspiciously with narrowed eyes.

"Yeah right," he laughs.

"I am!" I retort.

"Why then?"

I've never had a real conversation like this with Carl. He always tried with me but I would shut him and anyone else out.

"Because I'm going to figure out what I want to do and it's not this...no offense."

He looks at me like he still doesn't believe me.

"Hm."

He stays looking at me weirdly and I drag my eyes literally everywhere until I couldn't anymore.

"What?! Carl..what is it?"

He just shrugged and then finally looked away.

"You just..seem happy."

I see a little smile threatening to creep up on his face.

I sigh and think of the reason I'm happy.

I think of him. His gorgeous blue eyes and that smile. I think of my plans too and I'm excited.

"I am. Finally, it's been a while."

He just looks at me like he wants to ask why.

He doesn't.

"Well, Alex isn't here. He doesn't get here until around nine so you're going to have to sit tight for a bit."

I simply nod.

"Then..can I get a drink?" I smirk.

He smiles.

"Sure."

He serves me a glass of who knows what and then his smile falters completely to his starkly look.

"That'll be about fifteen mam."
