Chapter 5: the new tutor

The rest of my classes flew past with Joliet hovering around me but I ignored her. I clean up all my art supplies when Rose walks over to me, " Brandi." "Yes," I put the lid on the paint. " How are you feeling," she move a little closer to me. " I'm good. Is that all you want?" I turn to face her," you better keep your mouth close about what happened." She points her finger at me," what are you going to do about it," I put my lady hand on my hip. " I'll tell the dean that you were trying to seduce him." I laugh," you can do that and I'll tell the dean that you all forced me to take ecstasy." Her mouth hangs open before she could gather herself. " Just don't say nothing or there will be hell to pay," she stomps away. 

She really tried it. I finish cleaning my mess and grab my bags heading out the door. I leave the building heading to my advisor. I speed walk across campus to the main building going straight to the offices. I walk down the hall stopping in front of Mrs. Carter's office. The door sits wide out and I knock on the wall. " Yes," she looks up from her computer. " Brandi, how are you doing?" " I'm good,Mrs. Carter," I walk into her office and take a seat in front of her desk." What can I do for you?" " I need a new tutor." " What's wrong with Joliet?"" We came to a disagreement and I don't think she's a good fit for me as a tutor anymore." 

 "Well let me see if I can find someone else," she types away on her computer. I look around her office at her college diplomas. On her desk sits a picture with her and her Italian husband. " All the tutors are very swamp but the only one we have available is Enzo Finley." "What could you two lovely ladies want from me," the boy from my history class lean on the door frame. " Mr. Finley, right on time. It looks like you'll be tutoring Brandi from now on," Mrs. Carter says. He walks in the office standing next to me. " Good to see you again," he smiles down at me. My face gets hot and I look away from him. " You two have most of your cour classes together so this should work," she looks at us. " Thank you," I stand up. 

Enzo smiles at me," did you need something Mr. Finley?"  I walk out of the office letting him have his time. I walk down the hall and out the building when I hear footsteps behind me. " Brandi, wait," I look behind me as Enzo runs towards me. He stops in front of me," you want sit and talk for a minute?'' '' Sorry, I can't. My ride should be waiting at the front of the campus." " Let me walk you." " I'm fine," I wave him off." Let me be a gentleman and walk you to your ride." " Fine," I huff. We head to the front of the campus with other students' eyes on us." You sure do get a lot of attention wherever you go." " You can say that," Joliet and her crew  look at us as we walk past.

" So what do you need help with?" " Everything but it's mostly the language barrier." He nods his head," we can get started whenever you're ready." We stand in front of the university sign. I look around for the car," how about I give you my number. SO if you have any questions about the homework. I can help you." " Okay," I pull my phone out of my pocket and handed it to him. He types away in it when a car stops in front of us. Alex gets out of the car and opens the back door. Enzo hands me my phone back," see tomorrow." I nod then get in the back seat. Alex closes the door then walks around the car getting in the driver seat. Was that right to take his number? The car pulls off, he's here to help me study for school. Nothing else.

 I hope Romeo doesn't freak out about this. He's going to go  overboard with this stuff. I pull my phone out and go through my Facebook. I see Samarias stories of yet parting on campus. I heart and like the post  then scroll down  my timeline. The car slows down pulling in front of the mansion." Grazie, Alex," I open the door. I close the door and walk up the stairs to the front door. I knock on the door and wait a few seconds before the door opens. One of the maids opens the door smiling. I smile back walking in," everyone is in the backyard." " Thank you," I go to the kitchen, dropping my bookbag in a chair by the island. I go into the fridge grabbing a bottle of water then go to the sliding doors. 

Mille, Tisha and Mrs. Lilly sit in chairs in the shade. Gio, Angle and Danny stand by the grill. I open the door and walk over to the girls," hey ladies." I take a seat next to Mille," hey," they say. I take a sip of water as the men back away from the grill. A huge fire rise up," you sure they know how to grill?" Tisha shrugs her shoulders, putting Minnie in the air. Mrs. Lilly takes a sip from her glass. I look at Mille," I would hope so," she shrugs. I shake my head pulling my phone out. I text mom seeing how she's doing then put my phone in my lap. " So how was school?" " It was good, I got a new tutor." " What happened to Joliet," Mille looks at me."

 " We start not getting along." Mille raised her eyebrow at me," we'll talk about this later." Shit, I get up," where are you going?" " To my room," I speed walk into the house grabbing my bag. I go upstairs to my room, putting my bag on the floor by the door. I kick my shoes off before getting in bed. My phone rings and pull it to  my face," hey mom." " Hey baby, how are you?" " I'm good. What about y'all?" " We're doing good. Brandon is working hard with your father." I sigh," what's that for?" " Brandon doesn't need to be doing that. He should be going to school or trying to do a start up business with that money." " I know but he's grown. I can't tell him what to do."" I'll talk to him," I flip on my back.

" How school?" A smile spread across my face," beside me not understand what is being said. The art classes are great. I'm learning so much." " That's good. You sound so excited." " I am. It's so good to be able to express myself through art." " I'm glad. What's going on with you and Romeo?" My face heats up," nothing." " Brandi, you don't have to lie. I know he was part of the reason that you stay are you too still seeing each other." I bite the bottom of my lip," yeah." " Good, don't let him get away with nothing since he's older than you." " I won't, mom," I laugh." Here's your dad." " Baby girl," he says loudly into the phone. " Hey dad, how's everything?"

 " It would be better if you and your sister come home." " When I'm on break I'll come home for a while." " That sounds good. Maybe then I'll convince you to stay." " I doubt that but you can try." He laughs," I miss you baby girl." " I miss you too dad." " If you feel that you're in any danger. Call me whenever and I'll come and put people in the ground." " Dad, I think you're too old to be putting someone in the dirt." " Because I'm old doesn't mean that I can't still do it." " Okay dad." " School doing good?" " Yes,sir." " Good I'm proud of you. Don't stop your dreams for no boy." " I won't, dad." " I love you. I'm hand your mom the phone back." " Okay love you too dad."
