The Second Rose

Your P.O.V

"KANEKI!!!!" Oh my God, what do I do!? My mind went foggy and I grabbed my phone. I tried to call the paramedics but I couldn't stop shaking. I was terrified. . . What if he dies. . . What if I never see him again. . . What if- I stopped my mental rant and looked up as multiple fire trucks and cop cars came to the scene. I was crying and wearing a blanket to help with the shock of what had happened.  

Kaneki's P.O.V

I opening my eyes and I found that I was laying in a hospital bed. I turned my head slightly and saw Y/N sitting in the chair next to me. "Y/N. . .?" I watched them stir and blink, their shining eyes were unusually dull and blood shot. "Y/N. . . go home, you need to rest, I will be okay for now."

Your P.O.V

"Y/N. . . go home, you need to rest, I will be okay for now." My head was heavy and my vision clouded, everything he said was echoing in my head. I nodded even though I had no clue what he was saying. I was still too dazed to realize he was moving. It was until I felt the thin cotton blanket being wrapped around me, coating me in his warmth, that I realized what was going on. "What. . .? Kaneki, no, you need thi-" I stopped short, looking at all of the injuries he sustained. Without meaning to, a strangled sob escaped my mouth and I began crying and shaking, realizing that this, was in fact, the reality of the situation. 

Kaneki's P.O.V

I jumped slightly as they sobbed, I wasn't expecting them to get so worked up. . . over me. . .? But why me? I'm not special. Just a normal straight A college student living by himself in his childhood apartment where only the echoes of my childhood lived. I shook my head before hugging them gently. "Y/N. . . Don't cry. . . I'm okay. I am alive and I am well. I am still here for you." My phone buzzed as Hide texted me. I had a feeling he was freaking out as well, but I would text him in a few minutes. Y/N was my priority. I never wanted them to cry and especially not over me. I watched as they fell asleep and sighed. "Why did you stay. . .?" I got both of us in the bed, making sure to keep enough space so they wouldn't get uncomfortable. I checked my phone and saw that Hide had placed the next rose outside of Y/N's door. I smiled softly, knowing they would have something nice to go home to. I texted Hide and told him he could come by later if he wanted to and then I went to sleep. . . with Y/N next to me. 

Hide's P.O.V

I set the the black box down outside of the door and taped the letter to it just like Kaneki asked. I asked him if he needed anything, I only hope he is okay. I hope Y/N is okay too. Apparently the rumors were true, they were standing where the beams fell, but Kaneki threw them out of the way. I can't even begin to imagine see Kaneki, or anyone for that matter, in that condition. Kaneki said I could come in later, so that is what I am on my way to do. It has been about 5 hours, so by now it was almost 19:00. I walked in and was told which room he was in. I knocked gently and heard Kaneki quietly say "come in." I opened the door and saw Kaneki hugging Y/N close as they slept. "Are you guys dating now?"

Kaneki's P.O.V

"Are you guys dating now?" I smiled softly and shook my head. "No, they moved like this and I didn't have the heart to wake them." "You were always a sweetheart" Hide said teasingly, causing me to blush and laugh quietly, my throat ached and I choked slightly.  "Jeez, Kaneki, careful. I don't think they want to wake up being cuddled by a blue you." "I know. . . I am concerned for them. They haven't been awake in hours. 

3 Days Later

Kaneki's P.O.V

Y/N stayed with me the entire time that I was in the hospital. Now I can go home and rest and maybe try to eat something. . . 

Your P.O.V

Kaneki got discharged today. I am still a little worried though. He has not been able to eat or keep anything down. He has gotten a little thin from throwing so much food up. . . I will cook dinner for him, after all, I was able to convince him to stay with me while he recovers. When I brought him up to my door, there was another black box with another note. "Hm. . . " I will get it once Kaneki is settled in. 

Kaneki's P.O.V

"Thank you again for letting me stay while I recover, Y/N." "It is no problem at all, it gets lonely here by myself anyways." "You. . . you are alone. . .?" "Yes, my parents were mauled by ghouls shortly after I was born." I felt sick to my stomach. "I-I am so sorry, Y/N. . ." "It isn't your fault, besides, I had my aunt." They're like me. . . alone without parents or a single place to call home, moving around and trying to figure it all out. 

Your P.O.V

"Kaneki, are you okay? You look so-" I stopped as I watched a tear slip down his cheek, my eyes widened. "K-Kaneki!?" I moved to him and hugged him quickly. "Did I say something wrong? Is there anything I can do? Are you in pain?" 

Kaneki's P.O.V

"Did I say something wrong? Is there anything I can do? Are you in pain?" I looked at them and hugged them close. ""You didn't do anything. . . I didn't realize you were alone. . . I am sorry. . ." "I am okay with it, Kaneki. I promise, I am used to it and it leaves room for me to do the things I can't do around people." Their smile. . . It was contagious and glowing, I started to smile with them. 

Your P.O.V 

Once Kaneki was asleep and relaxed, I went back to my door and picked up the box, reading the second note. "You are beautiful, my passionate, lovely, and gentle rose. -K.K" Who is this person. . . Is it possible it really is Kaneki?
