"Are you telling me I shouldn't make friends??" His voice barely raised, but you could sense some emotion in it.

"Wha-" Seki, in all honesty was dismayed.
"Are you serious? All I was was telling you to watch out."

"I am. He's just a good friend. Why can you hang out with your friends but I can't?"

"Don't you see he isn't your friend?? He couldn't give less shits about you!"
...
Seki inhaled, he didn't wanna raise his voice any more, but he couldn't keep it in any longer either. He was so frustrated.
"Do you actually even like me?"
His voice softened.

Kuma tensed up.
"..What?"

"You heard me. Nothing I tell you feels like it actually matters. How am I supposed to know if not asking you directly at this point??"

Kuma looked down. All comming out were the bottled up tears.
Seki immediatly felt bad. But it had to be said. If both stay silent like a grave nothing will ever change. He'll keep his passive aggressive attitude, and Kuma will continue seeking attention of others.

...

"I'm sorry."
Seki took a step closer.

"Look, this isn't working like that."

Kuma silently gasped, looking up.
But Seki looked away.

"We should end this."
Another way of saying he's scared of being confronted with his struggles. With his anger, with his inability to open up properly. With his inability to form a romantic bond.

"N-no, anything but that... I'll stop talking to him.. to anyone!" Kuma said, clinging onto his sleeve.

Seki slowly pulled his arm away.
"Stop it."

Tears rolled, desperate words spilled that just flowed right past each other.
This is what Kuma feared, Seki knew that. But Seki couldn't bare with the thought of not giving him what he needs. Infact, he doesnt even know what he wants himself. So how was he gonna figure that out for someone else.

Few weeks passed.
Seki hasn't heard a word of Kuma since. Neither did Kuma hear anything about Seki.
Breakups can hurt, they make you feel you're the one who fucked everything over. Even when every relationship has at least two people who fuck things up in it.

It's been a drag to go to work. But it would be his end if someone noticed he's feeling miserable right now.
At least the moon was beautiful tonight. It followed him home on this lonely, night.
Opening his mailbox, a few advertising paper fell out. Between them, a white envelope fell out. Out of the plain packaging, a rather fancy card was placed inside it.

Kuma Fuhihara erased Seki Nakamura from his memory.

But at least it was a beautiful night. A great time to sit by your own doorstep, to think of the past again while your lungs filled in smoke.

Seki ignited his lighter, holding it under the card.

It's what he deserves. It's what he gets for pushing him away.
He knew they could've fixed this. This was the first time they were true to each other, so why did he back off then?
Nothing good ever stays forever.
...
But the memories stay.

Water extinguishes any flame. So when the card hit the puddle, created by the shallow rain on the ground, it stopped burning. Like how letting a tear roll over your face might free the flaming anger inside you.

Seki woke up from the noise of his door knocking.
He looked miserable, stayed inside for several days without taking much care of himself.
He opened the door.
