Scene 1

Giovanni's Restaurant, London, Evening

VIVIAN: So, here we are. Here we are.

AVA: Oh, god. Is this another one of your "look how far we've come." speeches? I swear, you're so nostalgic for me.

VIVIAN: Excuse me? You love my speeches. You've always said so! How dare you suggest otherwise.

AVA: Fine. Go ahead, if you must.

VIVIAN: I'm just saying, a lot has happened since Academy. We've come so far. Even in a short time, our careers are already taking off. I've got my company, and let's not forget you recently passed the bar...

AVA: Feel free to expand on my accomplishments, if you want.

VIVIAN: Our plans have been slightly put on hold while we conquer this city first... But I fully see world domination in our future. We've grown up in so many ways, and the best part is we've watched each other grow. A lot has changed. But one thing has stayed the same.

AVA: You mean, your eternal and undying love for me?

VIVIAN: Exactly. No matter what happens, I know these feelings will be here forever. I'll always love you, Ava. You've always been the one... And that's why I have something to ask you. The most important thing I'll ever ask anybody.

Ava gasps.

VIVIAN: And cue the happy tears. Don't worry, Ava. I've got tissues ready. For once in your life, you'll be lost for words. Especially when I--

AVA: Vivian Seymour! You shut your mouth, right now! I'm shocked. No, I'm appalled.

VIVIAN: What? Why?

AVA: I can't believe this. I can't believe you'd have the nerve! I should have known you'd steal the thunder from your own proposal!

VIVIAN: What? You mean you were going to--

AVA: Yes, I was going to! I had the whole thing planned out perfectly, then you had to go and ruin it!

VIVIAN: How was I supposed to know you were also planning to propose?

AVA: I don't know, but this is typical of you, Vivian. You always have to one-up me.

VIVIAN: Oh yeah? Well, I bet I had this planned out way longer than you! I would have asked you at dinner last weekend, but you had to start all that drama over a lost bracelet.

AVA: Well, I would have asked you on our trip to Rome, but you had to go and get food poisoning! I told you not to eat those oysters!

A waiter approaches their table.

WAITER: More wine, madam?

AVA: Do you mind? We are in the middle of a proposal here! How dare you interrupt the most romantic moment of our lives!

WAITER: But madam... the shouting... I-I thought...

AVA: You thought wrong! This is absolutely outrageous! I want to see the manager!

VIVIAN: Um Ava? Why don't we just go?

AVA: Might as well. I'm not paying for food here if waiters are going to be this rude.

Scene 2

Hyde Park, London, Evening

Ava and Vivian are slowly strolling through Hyde park.

VIVIAN: You know, I actually feel bad for that waiter... Not everyone understands our interpretation of romance.

Ava stops walking.
