"Kay... Come on Kay you need to get up before mom finds out you're still sleeping! She'll put you in the room again... Kay!!"
Jesus I'm up already.
"God Kat, I'm up already. Just go get ready." I know she's looking out for me and all but she can really be annoying.
"Ughhhhh." I threw the ripped up old blanket off of me and sat on the edge of my old mattress. I got up off the mattress and stepped on the cold concrete floor. My room was in the basement because my mom sees me as a disgrace to the family, so she put me in the basement. She would get rid of me if she could but that would give our family a bad name. I looked around the musty old basement when my eyes landed on two of the three things I actually cared about, My bass and My pit bull, Nirvana Rose.
"Rosie girl come here! Come here!" I squealed with my arms wide open. On command My baby waddles over to me and starts licking my face.
"Rose get down!" I say trying to be stern but failing miserably. Nirvana Rose finally got off me and went over to my mattress and fell fast asleep. I looked at my clock and read 6:30 shit! I quickly pulled on a Random band shirt and some skinny jeans, grabbed my bass and school stuff and ran out to my car; i put what i had in the backseat and went back inside to get my clothes, my dog and my sister. I went to Kats room and opened the door. "Kat?" I whispered softly. I ventured farther in the dark room and closed the door again. "Kat?" I repeated, just as soft as before. I scanned the room before my eyes fell on a dark shape in the corner. It sniffled. I ran over to the corner. "Kat!" I ran to the huddled child in the corner. "Kat?" I could see her see her silent tears falling down her cheeks. I picked her up and carried her out of the room. I sneaked out of the house, I hoped to never step in again, and carried her put to my car and placed her inside. When I got in on my side and closes the door i could see the side of her face beginning to bruise. That bitch! I gripped the steering wheel until my knuckles turned white. "Kat?" She turned her back to me and looked out the window. I sighed. I drove and drove and drove. Kat never said a word, she just watched the rain start to fall as we drove into the country side. "Where are we going Kay?" Her question startled me (I was just getting used to the silence) "uhh its a surprise Kat." She never responded and just stared out the window again. Nirvana whined in the back seat signaling that she needed to go to the bathroom yet again. I pulled over in the closest field and let her out. Watching my dog run around the field. It felt so familiar. Almost like I belonged here.

DADDY!!
My seven year old self ran through the pastor and jumped into my fathers arms. (My mother hated how close I was with my father) he lifted me up and swung me around in the air and put me back down. I reached up for his hand and grabbed on to it. We walked to our old farm house and pushed open the old screen door. My mother was frying dinner in a pan and called us over. My father let go of my hand and grabbed my mother from behind and kissed her. Me being the small child I was let out a load groan that made my mother scowl and my father laugh, they pulled apart for my sake. We sat down for dinner and the atmosphere felt extremely uncomfortable, something was wrong. When dinner was finished and I was put to bed I never fell asleep. My mother and father argued every night and I always stayed up to listen.
M- I AM SO TIRED OF YOUR SHIT!
D-THEN LEAVE!! LEAVE KAY AND I ALONE! WE DONT NEED YOU!!
M- IF I DID LEAVE I WOULD NOT LEAVE YOU AND MY DAUGHTER ALONE!!
Thats when the gun went off.

Nirvana came bounding back over to me and hopped in the car. I bent down to close Nirvanas door and got in my side. I looked over to see Kat was not in the car. I felt my heart rate quicken as the panic sunk in. I jumped out of my car and tore across the field. "KAT!!" I screamed. "KAT!!" There was nothing responding except for the wind. I looked around but saw nothing. "Kat?"
