"it must be urgent." giyuu muttered, his breath stifled.
the two sprinted across the night, the moon smiling at them from above. dark trees towered over the two nimble, and agile figures, as they reached the familiar, pristine zen garden of oyakata-san.
they both hopped onto the porch synchronised, and immediately bowed down to the fragile man before them.
"oyakata-san." they both stated.
"konbanwa, my children." he said peacefully. "it has come to my attention that a lower moon has been lurking around the perimeter of our dear lake. i thought that you two work perfectly together." "would the two of you be free to check the area out?"
"of course." they both said again.
he smiled. "and it's great that you two are spending time together."

together? my reputation. i can't be seen with Tomioka Giyuu. Although he may be... soft? I really can't afford to-
"Kocho." Giyuu said, in almost a whisper.
He was pointing to somewhere across the glistening waters, which imperceptibly broke so silently.
Then she spotted it. Not it, them. A female snow-haired demon, with two diminutive horns sprouting out of her head. Red marks were imprinted on her small face.

The demon was accompanied by a long-haired male demon, with a dark beard, and eyes like ambers, that could be seen in the night, from miles away.

"I'll take the male." She said.
Giyuu switched his gaze off of her, nodded, and dashed across the onyx-coloured lake.
As she reached the other side of the sparkling waters, she hid behind a tall, dark tree, listening in on the conversation that the two lower moons were having.
"Can you smell that?" The male sniffed violently. "Looks like we'll be having a great dinner." The female cackled.
"Or, you won't have any." Shinobu stepped into the moonlight, a smile abroad.

One of the reasons why I don't like Kocho. She is terrifying.
Giyuu studied the female, spinning her nirichin blade around, her crazing smile, the hatred hidden in her eyes.
He turned to the female demon in front of her. She looked at him with rage, as if he were disrupting her dinner. (Like wasn't already)
"Die!" The demon screamed, once she noticed Giyuu's annoyed expression. A once single silhouette of herself, turned into dozens more.
"No thanks." Giyuu said, dodging a rapid attack.
All of the demon's clones closed in, about to attack and then-
Total concentration. Water breathing. Eleventh form. Dead calm.
Slice.
"How?!" The lower moon's head said, slowly disintegrating into nothing.
Giyuu looked over at his short companion, clapping slowly.
"Ara-ara, Tomioka-san, what a show you've put on" Whether she said this sarcastically or not, he couldn't tell. "What a shame I beat mine before you finished."
"Let's head back to master." Giyuu said, ignoring Kocho's words.
Two figures faded back into the moonlight.

"Well done, my children. You have worked well." Ubuyashiki nodded. "You are dismissed."
The two were back at Giyuu's house. The candles, and lanterns were blown out.
"Take the bed, Kocho." Giyuu said, pointing at the neat, tatami bed.
"What a gentleman." Shinobu laughed sarcastically, sitting upon the bed.
He was tired. Not from the demon fight, but from having to get interrupted. Right when he was to tell Shinobu about his feelings.
Slowly, his eyelids grew heavy, and he fell into a deep slumber.
