I was standing there, completely awestruck at what just happened to me. Nobody was here. In this locket of trees. In this different dimension. I realized that I had been staring into the sky, countless number of stars sprinkled everywhere. I look down at my toes where I find brown old boots. There is mud all over me. I am wearing ripped jeans. Not fashionably ripped but ripped out of use. I am wearing a flannel shirt. It has a pocket on the right side and is kind of itchy. I look over to my shoulder when a sudden sharp and burning pain brings me back to reality. I see blood. It has covered my whole shoulder. My Mom always taught me to not think about the pain. But what my brain goes to, I don't want to remember. My Mom's hover car crashing, her dying. My dad leaving out of grief. There was a funeral this morning. Fifteen years of my life com barreling into me. I don't remember where I came from, just that I had but have never been here. Three soldiers and Prince Dai stop about five feet away from me. I quickly go down into a messy, clumsy curtsy. The soldiers saying nothing and staring straight over my soldier the whole time. Prince Dai locked eyes with me, out of my will, and asked, "Are you okay?" That simple statement sent me bawling. I fell onto my knees and didn't care that the dirt was layering me like a blanket. I didn't realize that the guards scooped me up and jogged back to the castle. What I did realize is that everyone gave me worried glances as they brought me to the hospital wing.
I woke up in a hospital wing with my arm wrapped up and a nurse next to me.
"Hi, you need anything?" The polite nurse asked.
"Answers." I say with a small smile. I sit up giving me a slight headache.
"I don't have any answers, but I will send for the Royal family." Without waiting for an answer she hands me a red liquid, tells me to drink, and scurries out of the room. While I wait, I choke down the liquid, noticing that my shoulders pain went down some.
"Heard you needed some answers." the Prince says as he strolls in.
"Yeah, seems my brain is a bit behind schedule." He chuckles, but I was serious.
"Well, rebels got carried away. They somehow got guns and started firing." He said guns like it was sour. I looked at him with a blank expression. "You were in the cemetery when the rebels came out of the forest. It seems like you tried to run, but it got your shoulder just a little. Nobody was as bad as you, mostly just hurt falling and tripping."
"That's good." I started getting teary eyed and look away from his bright blue eyes and freckles. Nobody was saying anything so I just said what was on my mind. "It was my mom's funeral."
"Sorry." That plain word made me feel so much more better. "For your loss, and all of this." He motions his arms around like he's trying to make a picture appear. I laugh, but quickly stop because the laughing sent me a sharp pain up my neck.
"What's so funny?" He asks with a crinkled nose.
"You didn't know me or my mom and yet you brought me here.... Where the rich folks stay."
"You were hurt, it's kind of my job to go to those things to get all the confusion cleaned up, and anyways your cute." He said that last part with a little shrug and a small smile. I blushed.
"So, when are you going to kick me out?" I ask. But right then the King and Queen walk in and the Prince jumps up from where he was sitting on my bed.
