I heard their footsteps before I even woke up. They were in the house. I slowly opened my eyes to notice the little bit of moonlight streaming in through my curtains. Nobody was in my room. They are after Jung-ho. I reached for my daggers in the drawer of my nightstand with making as little noise as possible. I needed to get to Jung-ho. I was still unsure if he liked me. He was so cold. Not surprising as I was the only human within 100 miles. Still, I was not going to let him die. Even if he didn't feel the same.
I slipped out of my room into the dark hallway. No immediate movement so I started walking towards Jung-ho's room. As I turned down the hall towards his bedroom door, I noticed two ghosts in front of me. Guns drawn. I held my breath as I tightened the grip on my daggers. I quickly wrapped my arms around one of their necks as I sliced their throat. Before the other even had a chance to fully acknowledge, I had thrown my other dagger into their throat. They both fell gasping for air only to choke on their own blood.
"Jung-ho." I barked out as I walked into his room to notice three ghosts inching closer to his bed. One of the ghosts turned to me but I quickly disarmed the gun out of their hand before pushing back into their face, breaking their nose.
Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Jung-ho move like lightning behind the other ghost. He clawed into the man's chest causing him to scream in pain as he fell over. The last ghost pointed their gun at Jung-ho but before they could pull the trigger, I threw another dagger into the back of their knee.
I looked at Jung-ho as he stopped in front of the ghost, ripping the gun out of their grasp. He wrapped his hand around their neck, "Who sent you?" He growled out as he picked up the ghost effortlessly off the ground.
"They aren't going to talk." I informed him as Jung-ho's guards rushed into the room.
Jung-ho looked towards me with fury burning in his eyes. Not at me though. He turned to his guards, dropping the ghost on the ground, "Where the hell were you all? Jerking off in the breakroom?"
His guards all stuttered unable to come up with an explanation. I chuckled at the idiots. They were supposed to be superior to me, a regular human, but they could not even notice a group of ghosts sneaking into the crown prince's home.
"The human was here before any of you even noticed what was happening," He actually snarled at them. He was beyond furious, "Grab the trespassers and find out who sent them."
I pulled my dagger out of the last ghost's knee which caused them to scream out in pain. The room became silent once more as the guards left with the ghosts. They were not going to find out anything. Ghosts were trained to never reveal information and die in captured. The few that remained would probably be dead by morning.
"Thank you." I looked up from my bloody dagger at Jung-ho. He was looking directly at me.
I almost thought I heard him wrong but I could see that it was practically killing him inside to thank me for saving his life. I bit my lip from saying something snarky as just uttered, "You're welcome."
I turned to leave the room when I felt his cold hand wrap around my elbow, turning me back to face him. He was standing mere inches from me. Our noses were practically touching. He had not stood so close to me since that night we sparred and I kicked his ass.
"Why would you save my life?" He asked me as his eyes were searching for answers in mine.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, "B-Because it was the right thing to do."
He furrowed his eyebrows not believing my obvious lie, "There's more to it," I did not say anything so he continued, "You care. About me."
I tried not to react but my heart was beating a million miles a minute, "I-I don't know what you're talking about." I don't know why I kept lying. He could obviously hear from my heartbeat that I was lying.
"Of course you do," He inched closer to me and I could not help but glance down at his pink lips. I looked back up into his eyes and it was like a confirmation for him. He leaned all the way in and kissed me. His lips were soft against mine. But they grew in hunger and pressure as I kissed him back. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me up against him. Leaving me with no room to get away from him. He tasted like heaven.
When he finally pulled away, I was gasping for air. His soft fingers trailed my jawline as he whispered into my lips, "I care about you too."
I could not help from being myself, "You have a cold way of showing it."
He shook his head, "I wanted to ignore it at first. But, you kept pulling me in somehow."
"And now?" I had to know what this kiss meant. I had to.
"Now, I'm going to make you mine." He crashed his lips against mine with force as he walked me backward towards his bed. I practically smiled in between the kisses. I wanted so badly for him to make me his. That's all I have wanted for months.
