Overgrown Garden

It was a beautiful day in Durdum Towne. The frogs by the pond croaked, and the vines on the trees grew stronger by day. Birds chirping like an alarm clock wakes Tom from his soft slumber. He shifts uncomfortably, sitting up in bed with a small yawn and stretch. As he wakes up, he looks out the window, watching Edd on his horse-drawn carriage go down the warm stone path.

There was something in Tom that told him today wouldn't be as crummy as yesterday was. Just as he finished that thought, Matt knocked on his bedroom door.

"Hey, Tom! Wake up!" Matt hummed excitedly, today was a special day after all. Today was Tom and Matt's turn to trim the greenery in the garden.

"Let me get dressed, Matt." Tom rubbed his eyes tiredly as he emerged from the bed. The blankets were soft as a lamb's coat. His feet hitting the old, worn-out rug on the floor, he opened his wardrobe and put on his gardening boots, along with his nice sun hat. This outfit would go good with some flannel, Tom thought to himself.

"I'll be waiting in the garden! See you!" Matt walked away from Tom's bedroom door and wandered off to the garden, following the same old trail that's been there since they've built it.

Shortly after Matt's departure, Tom joins Matt in the garden, picking up a small pair of flower scissors and trimming the thorns of the rosebush.

"Thanks for doing the roses, I always get pricked by them." Matt chimed in softly, snipping off overgrown vines and tossing them in the campfire.

"It's really no problem, you just need to get the right angle and it's like nothing."

"Whatever you say, flower-boy." Matt giggles.

Matt just finds himself oddly staring into Tom's eyes as he tends the garden. There's something... fascinating in his aura. It feels warm and inviting.

"You know, Tom, there's something I've been meaning to tell you..." The ginger said, holding a blush rose behind his back. Tom's favorite.

"Mm?" Tom looks up from the greenery, shifting his attention to the taller male.

"I've always wanted to give you something nice to show how much I care about you." Matt hands Tom the rose, then places a gentle kiss on his lips.

Tom stands still in surprise but shortly kisses him back, wrapping his arms around his waist. He's been waiting for this moment for the longest time, and so has Matt.

"I love you so much, my dear," Matt says as he's rubbing Tom's head.

"I love you too, flower boy."
