Zane again felt the same sucking motion and this time he landed on his feet.
"Getting better at that huh?" Izak said, smiling a bit, Zane brushed his knees, annoyed.
"A little warning next time?" Zane looked at the landscape "Where are we by the way?"
The landscape was completely diffrent than anything Zane had ever seen, the mountains seemed young, the sun seemed a bit more vibrant, the grass seemed a bit more greener. Everything was as if it was made for just one purpose. To relive youth. Zane took a deep breath. The smell of grass, soil and even the air, smelled reviving, as if his very soul was brightened by witnessing this sight.
"The start of everything." Izak said, with a hint of disappointment that Zane failed to notice. Zane continued to look around until, a big blue light flashed over the mountain.
"What was that?" Zane said looking at the clouds that started to turn purple and blue at the same time. Izak grabbed Zanes hand and took a step, suddenly they were at the top of the mountain."how did you do that?" Zane asked. Izak raised a finger to his lips and pointed below. A man and a women were arguing fiercely.
"You idiot!!! Why did you run the machine if you didn't know how it worked?" The woman screamed at the man.
"I knew what it did, it just misfires of sorts." The man looked down at the ground and sighed softly. Zane noticed a peculiar piece of gem in his hand, it was the most beautiful gem ever. As if all the sheen of this new world had just gathered in that jewel just to make Zane enraptured in it's beauty forever. Zane stepped forward, to acquire the gem fight for it, if necessary but Izak held him back.
"Don't get captured in it's beauty, Zane. There have been wars fought over that very gem. Nations razed to dust because they believed this gem was divine. In all the realities that have been there, one thing was always considered as evil, and that was this gem." Izak squeezed Zane's hand. Zane looked at Izak very closely. Greed was all upon his face and yet he resisted. Zane looked closely into Izaks eyes and saw the gem through them. Suddenly it all made sense. The shine of it was to attract people, to make people it's pet. Zane covered Izaks eyes.
"What the hell are you doing? At least let me see it." Izak whispered struggling to escape from Zane. Zane pulled out a piece of Armour and reflected the image of the gem back to Izak. Izak looked at it and calmed down.
"Yup, it's magic is overpowering." Izak shook his head and looked at the people arguing once again, this time carefully avoiding looking at the gem.
"Where is this diasastorous world anyway?" The woman asked. The man looked around.
"This might be a new world, the gem brought us here. Don't you see it's a gift, by the gem." The man said, his eyes glittering as he saw the gem. Suddenly the world shook, all the mountains and plains, all mixed up for one second and then everything calmed down.
"What's happening?" Zane asked.
"I'll explain everything for now watch." Izak whispered. The man lifted his hands up in the air and spoke some words. From his hands rose a purple substance that spread across the lands and the oceans, spreading itself wide. All just to stabilize the world. Izak took Zanes hand and out the went to 'the beyond' again.
"That was the start of your world." Izak said.
"The start of my world?" Zane said looking at the purple string.
"Yes. Your space-time had nothing, it was just created and as if by fate, they came there, taking the most evil of all things with them." Izak started to walk back to where they had first met, Zane walked behind him.
"So...... we weren't the creations of our own space-time?"
"Technically yes, but there was a considerable energy left for creation of beings and you adapted to that energy. It's hard to explain. The point is that the equation of the space-time was disturbed. Now the beings aren't the ones unbalancing the equation, thier energy is significantly small to unbalance anything but they brought the stone with them, and that's where it all went south."
"Because the stone unbalanced the equation?" Zane asked.
"Correct. The world would have dissolved in a few seconds caused due to rapid expansion of space which would result to space tearing itself apart or just reach a limit and implode but both cases didn't happen because the man introduced something else."
"What?"
"Magic, my friend." Izak stopped and looked closely into Zanes eyes. "Magic isn't your world's energy, it's another world's. Magic recognizes some of you who are closer to the old beings and that's why there is a hierarchy in inheriting magic." Izak continued to walk on.
"So magic literally saved the world?" Zane asked, confused "why did you show me that then?"
"How impatient of you!!!! I'm getting to it. The point is that magic was the stabilizing agent of sorts for this reality. You have to produce a cure for it or remove it from the equation entirely because sooner or later it will destroy your universe." Izak rolled his eyes, for thr first time showing irritation.
"So if magic wasn't there, the world would practically be gone?" Zane looked back over the horizon, looking for the purple strings.
"Yes." Izak sat down with crossed legs.
"And I have to produce a cure for magic?" Zane asked thoroughly confused. Izak sighed.
"No, you have to produce a cure for the gem. The gem is what is going to swallow up your reality and if I'm right then it's going to swallow up realities. You'll have to learn how to navigate these strings to achieve your desired outcome. This is a necessity, especially that you're fighting the Lima Serpent, this very second."
"Yeah I need to get back." Zane hastily remembered the fight, and looked around for an exit.
"If you want to get back, you can but first I would advice looking into this particular string first." Izak nodded towards a string, Zane squinted his eyes on it.
"That's the Lima Serpent, escaping?"
"Exactly." Izak nodded "Even though your General and his crew is trying to fight the serpent, they'll just lose unless you are there. That's all I have to say. You know what you have to do."
***************
The air ran cold on the Island. The serpent loomed over the General. Boris, Alex, lionheart and weapons master, they were the only people who had escaped the ferocious attack of the serpent. Shadow lay unconscious, a knife going through his shoulder into the tree, Nolander lay on the ground, impaled by his own spear. General glanced at these two fatally injured fighters. Navigator was prepared to leave any second now. The only warrior they had left on the ship was the blacksmith and even he wasn't very apt at handling any other weapon than the mace. General took a deep breath and tightened his grip on the sword. The serpent lowered his head and rushed at the small group of 5 as the General looked on at the indomitable beast.
