The monster within

How i died

The story takes place in mystic Falls Virginia in 2009. But before I get to that part of the story I need to take you back. To where it all began The year was 1492 in Bulgaria where I lived with my family. My parents and my two sisters. One of my sisters left home that very same here at the young age of 15 her name is Katerina. Katerina Petrova but I hear she goes by another name now.

It was because of my sister dear sweet Katerina it Was because of her that I lost everything, I lost my mother my father and both my sisters forever not to mention my own life. All on the same day so let me tell you about the worst day of my life will you?

My name is Nikolay Petrova The youngest of the Petrova line. After my sister Katharina left home my mother Was very sad part of her Shattered that day that Katerina walked out of our lives for good the other part made her want to hold onto her two remaining daughters even more tightly than ever.

It was late at night the wind was howling outside my bedroom window I was the only one still awake I was on my bed my head under the covers my oil lamp sitting right next to me as I read from an old book. Then I heard something something that I've never heard before No one was awake besides me so I became extremely curious.

So I got up pulled the covers off of me and I walked over to my door peering out into the hallway. If he not dare me to cross over the threshold of my bedroom into the hallway. All I saw was a flash of black before my lamp went out. And I was pushed into my closet and hand was over my mouth tightly so that I couldn't scream.

A man in a suit sitting in the closet with me put a finger to his lips and I looked at him frightened. I've heard about these things that happen to young girls men still weigh into family's houses take the young girls and do anything valuable it's terrifying we've had a few friends that it's happened to usually anyone of little value doesn't make it. " shush" the man whispered to me. I looked at him confused still frightened my eyes as wide as they could go. " be very quiet do not make a sound" The man whispered again.

He then removed his hand for my mouth and bit into his own wrist which made me wince but it also made my stomach turn just a little bit. Because I locked in my closet with a crazy psychotic man what was gonna happen what was going to become of me all these things was going through my head. Then he shoved his bloody wrist towards me and all I could think about was how insane this man must be I shook my head refusing but he forced me to drink it to drink his blood.

I could hear things breaking glass shattering my family's waffle painful screaming. The man wiped my mouth with his sleeve and then he covered my mouth again with his hand. " It's OK just stay here and you'll be fine" he whispered in my ear. It took everything in me to not cry I was so scared I had no idea what was going on. Before I could even ask him what was going on he was gone he just vanished how much does quickly as he came in how was that so?

I sat down on the bottom of my closet covering my ears so I didn't hear the screaming but it didn't help I could still hear the agony my family was in just imagining the worst if they were going through right now. When a screaming had finally stopped I poked my head out of the closet it was so dark that I couldn't even see a hand in front of my face. I walked over to my bedroom door and then stepped out into the hallway I had to find my family if they were still alive. The whole time all I could think about was why did he save me why did he make me drink his blood was it away of tracking me was it a ritual why was I still alive.

As I stepped into the hallway it was so dark and narrow I shuffled my feet quietly along the carpet when I tripped over something and fell. I had no idea what I had tripped over so I felt around when my hand hit some thing warm thick and sticky so I brought my hand up to my nose it was fresh blood. I pushed my hand away from my face and screamed in horror.

Suddenly my mouth is covered by a hand. Someone grabbed me and whispered in my ear. " hush darling everything will be over soon" the voice spoke and then He stabbed me in the chest I started choking my own blood I felt my breath becoming weaker in the life leaving my body. Right before the light went out in my eyes I'd come to the realization that this man had killed my entire family and Now was killing me too.

I seen his Face his eyes were glowing a deep yellow he had blood dripping off his mouth I squeezed my eyes closed hoping it was a dream and that I would wake up soon and I died.

However I woke up. And when I did I was dayssed and confused and my gums hurt. So did my head my whole body ached and I was hungry. So hungry! I could smell blood and a lot of it and it was like my whole body was on edge.

It was morning by then so I could see in the house. I look to the right of me and see my sister dead in a pool of her own blood. I wanted to scream at the side of her but I couldn't I tried but no sound would come out. I stepped over her cold husk of a body. As I continue down the hallway I see blood Everywhere trails up on the floor splatters all over the walls every wall was covered you would think that a whole village Was sacrificed here.

I enter my parents room and immediately fall to the floor. My dear sweet mother Dead lying on her back in her blood soaked bed. My fathers limp corpse hung on the wall like a trophy a spear still stuck through his chest and into the wall. I went over and kneeled on the bed next to where my mother laid once I got the courage to get up off the floor. I sobbed next to my mother's body when I heard something someone enter the house.

Thinking that it was the man that killed everyone I ran to the closet and hid. I heard the person walk into the house and they were crying. I stayed quiet and stayed where I was this could be a trap so I just listened and watched. What I saw surprised me and also enraged me. It was Katerina she was sobbing she walked into our parents room and over to our mother she touched her face. I wanted to scream I wanted to burst out of the closet and tell her don't you touch her get your  hands off of my mother. But I didn't I stayed put.

Katerina kept apologizing over and over to the corpse of my mother. It didn't hit me at first why she was apologizing why she felt guilty but after a minute or two I realized she caused this it was all her fault. I suddenly was overcame with anger as I seen her exit the room I went to follow her and right about the time I was going to make my move I was grabbed a hand went over my mouth and when I met the eyes of my captor it was a guy from before the one that gave me his blood what was he doing back here?

He pressed a finger to his lips telling me to be quiet and almost as quickly as she had arrived Katerina was gone. Once she was gone he let me go. " why did you do that? I had her!" I screamed at him hitting him in the chest. The man just put his arm around me " because she's your sister and no matter how mad you are you don't want to kill her she's all you have left now". He spoke The man sounded wise like he had lived something similar to my life but I was still angry I wasn't listening to reason. " Who are you? what do you want? how do you know anything about what I want?" I shouted

" my name is Elijah Michaelson and believe it or not I was just like you once" he spoke and I immediately registered that he wanted to help me. " Katerina caused all of this she caused my family to die it's her fault she should pay!" I shouted. This wasn't like me I usually wasn't so angry why was I so angry why did my gums  hurt so bad? This didn't make since. " I know you know that and you're right she did cause this all but still she's the only family you have left." Elijah spoke honestly he wasn't wrong but I still didn't want to hear it.

After I'd calm down Elijah explain to me how I was able to survive the attack. And that I was in transition which was very scary to hear.  He also explained to me but he chose to save me because Katerina would talk about me a lot and how she missed me. And then he wanted to win her favor. He then tasked me with keeping an eye on my sister which I wasn't too happy about but I agreed. After I completed my transition Elijah got me a daylight ring. So that I could walk in the sun.
