~Kenzie POV~I woke up the next morning, still exhausted and still with horrible cramps. I rolled over to find Molly sleeping peacefully next to me. I got out of bed and walked downstairs to make some breakfast.
"Morning Mads, morning Momma." I said, kissing them both on the cheek.
"Morning babygirl." Momma replied, "How are your cramps this morning?" I grunted in response. "That bad huh?" I nodded, wincing as I got a sharp pain when I reached for a coffee mug in the cabinet, almost dropping it once I had it in my hand, "Are you okay?" Mom asked me, I screamed in response as I got another sharp pain.
"Momma, what side is your appendix on?" I asked, hoping it was on the opposite side of the pain.
"Your lower right, why?" Mom replied, setting her mug down and walking over to me.
"Shit." I whispered as I got another pain. "I think my appendix burst." I said, my teeth clenched in hopes it would dull the pain in my side.
"Okay, well let's get you to the hospital then. Maddie, can you help her to the car while I go get my keys and license?" Mom asked.
"Yeah, sure." Maddie replied, getting up from the table and basically carrying me to the car.
Mom followed us out and in a minute or so, we were back at the hospital. Mom rushed into the ER while Maddie helped me out of the car, only to get met halfway with a wheelchair and a bunch of nurses. I was rushed through the doors and straight into the OR. I was under within minutes of getting to the hospital.
~PLOT TWIST: MADDIE'S POV~
I was scared when Kenzie got rushed straight into the OR because I knew that you could die if your appendix busted and it wasn't taken care of immediately. Mom said we would wait until she got out of surgery to call everybody and tell them what happened. I don't think I've ever seen Kenzie in that much pain before. I really hope she'll be okay. Kenzie hasn't been in my life as long as Demi or Dallas, but I love her just as much as them, sometimes more. I'm only a few years younger than her, but I feel like I'm the one that's always left out. She's always talking with Demi or Dallas about things, but never seems to even spare me a glance.
I look over at my mom, "Mom?" I ask, turning serious.
"What's up kiddo?" She asks, turning in her chair to face me.
"Kenzie loves me, right?" I ask, looking down as soon as the words came out of my mouth.
"Of course she does Maddie, why are you asking?" Mom said, not in a scolding way, just in a concerned way.
"I just, I feel left out. She's always talking to Dallas or Demi or you, but she almost never even spares me a glance. I don't try to talk to her because I'm scared she'll yell at me and/or tell me to leave her alone." I told mom, tears forming in my eyes. "I just want to be as close to her as Dal and Demi are."
Mom hugged me when I stopped talking, "I know how you feel babygirl. You should try talking to her after surgery. I'm sure she wants to be close to you too. Demi and Dallas are only so close because they've all had the same mental health problems. Just talk to her and maybe you two can have a sister bonding day or something?" Mom suggested, kissing my forehead and wiping away the few tears I let fall.
"Okay, I will. Thanks mom, I'll talk to her after she wakes up and gets home. She's probably under enough stress as it is." I said, breaking eye contact with mom, hoping she'd drop it.
She sighed and let it go. We sat in silence for what seemed like hours, but it was only about 45 or so minutes before a doctor came out.
"Family of McKenzie Lovato?" The doctor asked, walking towards us, since we were the only people in the waiting room.
