~Y/N POV~
After finishing off the last of my water, I slumped back against the brick wall and let out a loud sigh.
Eyeing up Hanuel over by his own wall he sat up straight, lifting his head up from his shoulder and offered me a smile. Not like the one before but a smaller version of it.
"You're finished?" Hanuel
I nod and put down the metal cup and push the tray over to the door next to Hanuels tray. The two trays will stay there for clearing when our next meal is due. That will be when the night comes. Crawling back to the wall I sat against it but laid my legs out flat to stretch a little bit.
"So, where did you grow up?"
I asked him pretty much out the blue. Hanuel threw his head back and laughed. Like a genuine laugh that was music to my ears. I like it and I wanted him to do it again and made a mental note to try and get him to laugh like that again sometime.
"We're starting with that are we?" Hanuel
I nod firmly and crossed my arms over my chest.
"Yes."
He chuckles and looks up the ceiling.
"Well I grew up in different places. My Dad travelled a lot for work so my mom and I tagged along with him." Hanuel
"What did your dad do?"
Hanuel lowered his eyes back to the floor and shifted on his butt as if to get more comfortable.
"My family have a business developing weapons and we sell them. That's what my father did and made very good money doing it. He bought a couple businesses too while he was making this money." Hanuel
I nod while listening to him.
"Is he still alive?"
The way his body froze and his small smile dropped.
"No. And good thing too. He may of been a wealthy man but a family man he was not. My father was abusive towards my Mom and I." Hanuel
"You didn't kill him did you?"
Blurting out the question I immediatetly regretted it but surprisingly that made him smile again.
"I wish I did but no. Someone else did." Hanuel
A part of me wanted to ask who if he knew but I didn't want to dig too deep into that stuff just yet. We may have plenty time to go over that if Lex is not in any hurry to either kill us or whatever else he plans to do.
"I get to ask you questions too right?" Hanuel
I nod, a small smile ghosting my lips.
"Where did you grow up?" Hanuel
I snorted back a laugh because he threw my question right back at me. And judging by the smug grin on his face he knew this too.
"Here and there too. I never knew my family so I bounced from home to home in foster care. I was never adopted but from what I've been told I was given to the system when I was two years old."
Hanuel nodded but his eyes narrowed.
"Did you ever want to find out how you got there? Or what happened to your family? I mean you were two so someone looked after you until then." Hanuel
"True and even though I have been curious. I haven't. I don't want to face disappointment if I was unwanted."
His eyes dropped and washed over in sadness but as quickly as that expression came another took it's place.
