Part ⅔

Kaminari hummed, really wracking his brain to try and recall his phone number. He could always go and ask one of his classmates, but then that would lead to questions and he really didn't want to have to explain what happened and that he didn't know his own phone number.

He really didn't want to deal with any more teasing, so he instead just sat and stared at the screen of the phone. As he did so, another thought came into his head. Did this phone have a password to unlock it?

Kaminari nervously swiped at the screen and sure enough, a password screen appeared. He groaned and rolled back onto his bed. Of course... even if he did remember his number by some miracle, he wouldn't be able to call because he didn't know the password to this phone.

Well... maybe it was time to start accepting that he was never going to get his phone back.

As if the universe had decided he didn't deserve a fate that cruel... the phone buzzed and Kaminari looked down at it. A new text message had come in and his eyes widened as he read it.

New Message at 4:38 pm

Unknown: Hey? I think you might have taken my phone by accident...

New Message at 4:39 pm

Unknown: Could you give me a call?

New Message at 4:40 pm

Unknown: The password is my birthday, give me a sec and I'll text it to you.

Kaminari waited, overjoyed that this girl was responsible and knew her number. After another minute, Kaminari got the passwords and he unlocked the phone. He quickly went to the messages app and clicked on the chat that was from his phone. He touched the top and a new screen showed up. It read 'Unknown Number' followed by the number.

Now looking at the number attached to this unknown messenger, Kaminari knew it was his number. He'd have to write it down and memorize it later, but right now he just wanted to give this girl a call and find a way for them to exchange their phones back to their rightful owner.

He pressed the option to call the number and waited. The line rung twice and then Kaminari heard the line click.

"Hello?" The voice of that girl from before spoke.

"Oh hey!" Kaminari spoke back. "Umm... sorry about the mix up."

"Ah, it's fine. We both have good tastes in phone cases so it was bound to happen. Guess we both just have really poor luck today, huh?"

He chuckled. "Yeah, I guess we do. Anyway, when would be the best time to come and exchange our phones back?"

The girl, whose name was Aaliyah if he was recalling right, gave a hum. Kaminari waited, knowing that while he might only have homework to worry about tonight, she could very well be a really busy person with too many extracurriculars.

"Well, I'm busy the rest of today, since I won't get back to the dorms until late. I'm helping a friend with English and they are not too hot at it... so since tomorrow is the start of the weekend... are you maybe free in the morning to exchange back?" She told him.

"Yeah! I've got no plans for the morning!" Kaminari confirmed. "What time works best for you?"

"Does 10:30 by where we crashed into each other at the fountain work?"

"Yup!" Kaminari spoke back, overjoyed that she wasn't asking him to meet her at some time before ten in the morning. "So tomorrow at ten by the fountain?"

"Yeah! Sounds like a plan!" Aaliyah responded back with a chipper tone. "Well, I'll let you go. I know you hero course students are usually pretty busy, so I'll see you tomorrow! Don't work yourself too hard, Kaminari-kun!"

Kaminari chuckled awkwardly. "Ah yeah... I'll try not to."

With that, the line clicked dead and Kaminari let out a breath of relief. He was going to get his phone back and he just had to survive the night without it. He believed he could do so, especially since he just got the newest Pokemon game and wanted to play for a bit tonight.

As he was about to get the game all set up on his Switch, the phone buzzed again and he glanced his golden hues back at the screen. A new text message, more than likely from his phone, seeing as it was still an unknown.

New Message at 4:56 pm

Unknown: Thanks again! If anyone texts you, I'll let you know!"

He smiled at that and quickly unlocked the phone screen again, after having to recall the password. He made sure to jot it down right afterward. The first thing he did after sending a friendly reply back, was to save his number on her phone as his. Even if she ended up deleting it afterward, at least he would know it was her texting him.

When he finished doing so, he blinked and a question popped into his head. He once more went to the messages app, but this time sent a message of his own to his own number. He had to give himself a few reminders that even if it said his name on the reply, it wasn't his message. But rather it was Aaliyah on his phone, the one he saved as his contact. A bit confusing, but he managed to get it after a few texts.

New Message at 4:59 pm

You: Hey. If you don't mind me asking, how did you figure out my password?

New Message at 5:02 pm

Kaminari Denki: Well, I had to try a few different options. I tried the basic '1234' and then some other common passwords. I remembered you were in the hero course though, so... I tried your hero name and it unlocked.

New Message at 5:05 pm

You: Crap! I thought it was a tough password too!

New Message at 5:06 pm

Kaminari Denki: You might want to change it... since even me, a near-complete stranger, was able to figure it out in less than five minutes.

New Message at 5:07 pm

You: Yeah I guess I'll have to.

He hummed and found himself with a slight smile on his features. He didn't know why, but he was glad that if anyone could have ended up in this mix-up with him, he was glad it was this nice girl.

Normally he'd be freaking out that someone would snoop through his device, but he didn't feel like he needed to with her. No, he strangely trusted her despite just meeting her. Maybe it was that she reached out first to get their phones exchanged... or maybe it was because he thought she was cute.
