There are no words to explain Rick Harmon. The way he acts around me, the way he smiles, the way we sometimes stare into each other's eyes. Every time I see him when we change in the locker rooms, I lose it.
The fact that he plays football is cute, I guess. I know nothing about sports, but I support it. I sometimes have dreams of us being together. I feel great knowing I'm not the only one who's gay in the school, besides a few other people AND ESPECIALLY RICK!
The fact that it isn't just Rick and I when we hang out, its a bunch of other people too. I sometimes wish we had our own private area where we would talk and maybe even make out.
My friend Monica knows I like him. In fact, she's the only one. I'm scared to tell other people because they might even tell him to keep it a secret. What if he doesn't like me? Oh God!
Monica would sometimes come over my house, and usually what we talk about is Rick. I sometimes call her on the phone and tell her I'm crying cause I would feel alone and unloved. I love it when she comforts me. She's been my best friend since kindergarten.
Today felt longer than expected during school. In class I usually just stare at Rick. I only have him in my first, second, third, and fifth period. And everyday after school, we would walk with each other. He sometimes comes over my house for homework or something.
Today right when Rick left my house after school, I called Monica immediately.
Ring! Ring! Ri-!
"Hello?" She asks.
"Hey Monica, its me. Guess what happened today?" I say as if she won't know.
"Let me guess, he came over your house again, didn't he Mitchell?" She asks sarcastically.
"Ugh, I know but guess what else?" I ask.
"What?"
"Is it bad if I invited Rick to roller skating on Friday?" I ask.
"Um, I don't think so? No, its fine," she says.
"Ok, well talk to you later sis."
"Ok, bye Mitch," and we both hang up.
We usually like going roller skating, and it's usually me, Monica, and my friends Jacklyn & Amber. But I been wanting to bring Rick but he's been really busy with his football practice. But luckily there won't be any practice this Friday.
Late night comes around and this is usually the hours I would text Rick. I have a picture of me and Rick next to each other at school with weird faces. I liked it so I kept it. He knows because he has it too.
I text him with a "hey" but he doesn't get the message an hour later. This isn't the first time because he usually falls asleep as soon as practice is over. I don't blame him, but I like music better. Sports isn't my thing.
I fall asleep instead of waiting for his text back, and in the morning, I would get a text saying, "see you at school xo." He knows how to brighten my mornings.
As I walk to school, my friend Monica catches up to me. I have my earbuds on listening to Sam Smith's 'Stay With Me'. I take one off and Monica and I talk about my love connection with Rick.
"To be honest Monica, I don't know what to do," I tell her.
"Don't worry about it Mitch. Even if you don't get with him, you'll find one better than Rick," she tells me.
"Don't say that please, the whole 'I'll find someone better than Rick' thing."
We laugh a bit. We get to the school, as we spot Rick talking to our friend Jacklyn. I tell Monica to walk with me to our first as we wait for the last 5 minutes.
Rick walk in as he looks at us. We smile at him and he hugs us, but he hugs me tighter. The smell of his Kenneth Core clone turns me on a bit. When we look at each other for a split second, we encounter each other's eyes. His blue eyes are the prettiest things on his face. Mine are a light blue with a bit of hazel on the outer sides.
The bell rings and first period is a bore. But with Rick 2 rows next to me, I secretly look at him. He never notices, or that's what I think.
We walk out of first and walk to the locker rooms. The coolest thing about it is that he changes next to me. So when he takes off his shirt, his abs are the only thing I stare at. He takes off his pants and he's wearing pink Calvin Klein underwear.
Usually I forget what we do expect for lunch time. The lunch bell rings and the whole squad is here. Me, Monica, Rick, Jacklyn, and Amber.
We get a table and we sit down and start talking about Friday. When lunch ends, me and Rick only have a class together. But sometimes on our way over there, there's a group who hate us for being gay. They would sometimes just call us fags or shove us with a little force, but they don't really do anything. Sucks how they're in my 5th period, but thank God I only have them one class.
When me and Rick would walk together, it looks like we are a couple, but were not. I hope we get to be. The good thing is that we sit next to each other and we'll sometimes lean or put our heads on each others shoulders. Fifth period is my favorite class out of all.
When school ends, sometimes the whole squad would go to 7-11 to buy food. But today we went and I got a hot dog. Me and Rick looked at each other and we were laughing as I took a bite. On our way to the main streets of the city, we meet up with Amber's boyfriend who goes to Garmon High, which is not that far from Griffin.
Around 4, we all walk to Jacklyn's house and we work on our homework as we catch up on Gossip Girl on Netflix. Around 7:30, Rick walks me home. We hug and he leaves to his house. His hugs are always the warmest. As soon as I walk to my room, he textes me as soon as he gets home. Our convos on Kik are always the greatest. Around 11, I go to sleep with a smile on my face.
