Damon rolled over to look at me as I threw up once again. I've been throwing up all night and Damon has been with me every step of the way. I wiped my mouth, pulling the bowl away from my face and back onto the nightstand.

"Dani, are you sure you didn't eat something you're suppose to?" Damon asked, scrunching his nose up. Before I could answer, I felt more coming up my throat but before I could grab the bowl, red what looked like acid came pouring out of my mouth onto the bed sheets. My throat and stomach burned from whatever came up and not soon after my breathing became labored. "Danica?" Damon called for me once again but I couldn't answer. Between the burning, my lack of air was making it hard to concentrate. "Alright, that's it. I'm taking you to the hospital" Damon spoke, hopping out of the bed and quickly putting on a shirt. He picked me up out of bed, carrying me in his arms throughout the house and outside. It wasn't long thanks to his supernatural speed, that we were at the local hospital. "Hey" he got a nurses attention. "I need help, my girlfriend she's really sick." The nurse grabbed a wheelchair and Damon placed me in it. My head began falling backward like a bobble head. I couldn't seem to keep my head up.

"What's her symptoms?" The nurse asked as she brought both of us to a room.

"Vomiting, very pale, sweating, weakness on her body and stomach pain" Damon listed off all the symptoms I'd been experiencing in the last 12 hours.

"We're gonna have to run some blood and urine tests to see what's going on" she told us, while Damon helped me into the bed.

"Okay and can we get a bowl in here in case she throws up again?" Damon asked.

"Of course" the nurse nodded her head and throwing us a smile. As soon as she left I let out a soft groan.

"I know, I know" Damon mumbled, brushing my hair out of my face. "We're gonna figure out what's going on."

They ran some tests and not long after the doctor was in to give us the news. They had given me an IV because I was dehydrated but other than that they haven't done anything more.

"Any news doc?" Damon asked, looking up at him.

"It seems like she's been poisoned. Specifically paraquat" he informed. "Have you done anything with any herbicide lately?"

"No" I spoke, my voice raspy from all the vomiting.

"Poisoned?" Damon asked. I knew from the way he said it he was trying to hold back his anger.

"Yes. Luckily we caught it soon enough that there isn't any organ damage" the doctor continued.

"Organ damage?" Damon questioned, the anger coming through more.

"Uh, yes. I'm going to be giving you active charcoal, it should help get rid of the paraquat and I'll have a CT scan to check your lungs for any minimal damage" the doctor continued. "We're gonna have to keep you in here overnight to monitor how you're doing" the doctor finished. "I'll leave you two to discuss things. Is there anything you would like me to grab for you?"

"Some water, please?" I asked, rubbing the outside of my throat.

"Of course" and with that the doctor was gone.

"Where would you have gotten paraquat poisoning?" Damon asked quietly.

"I have no idea. He said they were in herbicide, so I haven't even been near it. Unless someone put it in my food when I wasn't looking" I spoke, wincing at the pain in my throat.

"It had to be Katherine. Who else would have done that? I mean, she compelled Elena's aunt to stab herself last night because I killed Mason" Damon spoke.

"So I could've been poisoned in payback for you killing Mason?" I questioned.

"Possibly. I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking. I should've known she would try to get back at me. I should've" Damon mumbled before shooting up from the chair. "I'll deal with it." Before I could say anything, Damon was gone and I was alone in the hospital room.

After hours of texting Damon to come back, Damon had arrived in a tux.

"Why're you all dressed up?" I questioned.

"Masquerade Ball is tonight" was all he replied with.

"And you're gonna leave me here alone again?" I asked, somewhat sadly.

"Yeah. I'll be back afterwards, I promise" he spoke, leaning down to kiss me on the forehead.

"Okay" I pouted, taking another sip of my water one of the nurses had brought me. "Do you have any mastermind plans I should know about?"

"Now that you mention it" Damon sighed. "Yes. Stefan and I are gonna kill Katherine tonight."

"Be careful please" I frowned.

"I will. I love you, I'll be back later to check on you" Damon spoke, leaning down to kiss me again.

"I love you too and you better come back to me" I replied.

A few hours later they were allowing me to be discharged. The poison had left my body quicker than they had expected, and I was clear to go back home. As I was walking out of the hospital with my papers in hand, I had my phone out ready to text Damon. Before I could even click on his contact name I had bumped into a familiar, masculine body.

"Danica, what're you doing out of your room?" Damon asked, grabbing onto my arm.

"They discharged me" I replied, waving the papers around in the air. "They said the poison left my body quicker than they thought, so they're not making me stay overnight."

"Okay. That's good news" Damon sighed out in relief. "I'm so happy you're okay. No lung damage?"

"Not that they saw on the scans" I answered.

"So you're ready to go home?" Damon asked smirking slightly.

"Yeah, let's go" I replied, giving Damon the signal to pick me up and get us home.
