Chapter 6

"So how's life as an apprentice?" Wolfkit asked Flamepaw. "Fun honestly, I've been an apprentice for half a moon and I've already done well," Flamepaw told her. "That's great, hey who's your mentor?" Wolfkit asked, "my mentor? Oh my mentor is Pidgonwhisker," he told her. "Cool" Wolfkit mewed, "I wonder who my mentor will be," Wolfkit asked excitedly. Flamepaw laughed in amusement, "well whoever your mentor is your gonna be a great apprentice" Flamepaw told her. Wolfkit was shocked, she didn't know if Flamepaw was being nice or if he was hitting on her but she ignored it. Wolfkit looked up and saw that the moon was almost at its peak. "Oh I gotta go, Ivypetal will be waiting for me," Wolfkit told Flamepaw, Flamepaw nodded. Wolfkit got to her paws, "see ya Flamepaw" Wolfkit mewed then ran into the trees. "See ya Wolfkit..." Flamepaw called after her. "How do I tell her..."

Wolfkit was nearing camp but then she remembered what Leafkit said. Come back through this way she repeated Leafkits words. Wolfkit went through the trees and went to the bush that lead to the dirt-place. She got to it and saw the hole, she peeked through and saw that no one was waiting there. So she slipped back into camp and then heard a call from Dusk rock. She entered the clearing and saw Greystar on the rock. Ivypetal exited the nursery and when she saw Wolfkit her tail twitched.

"Where were you? You had me worried sick" Ivypetal hissed. Was Ivypetal treating her like she was a newborn kit, she was five moon's old, she didn't have to be fussed over. "When I went to make dirt, my tail got caught in the bracken and it took me a bit to get unstuck," Wolfkit told her. She hated lying but she couldn't tell anyone about Flamepaw. Ivypetal smiled, "well next time, call if you need help okay, now it's moon high and its Leafkits, Featherkits and Maplekits, apprentice ceremony so let's get below the rock," Ivypetal told them and lead them to the meeting place for the kits. They sat down and Wolfkit saw Featherkit, Leafkit and Maplekit sitting below the rock with Robinfeather and a cat that Wolfkit didn't recognize. Cats started gathering below the rock. When most cats were present Greystar spoke.

"This moon high, we gather here to name three new apprentices, Featherkit, Leafkit and Maplekit have reached the age of six moons and are ready to become apprentices" all the cats in the clearing glanced at the three kits then back at their leader.

"Featherkit, Leafkit, Maplekit, by the power of TwilightClan I hereby make you apprentices. Featherkit you will be known as Featherpaw, Splash~heart will be your mentor. Maplekit you will be known as Maplepaw, Infernoblaze will be your mentor. And Leafkit you will be known as Leafpaw" Leafpaw was nervous what if she didn't get Brightflight as a mentor, what if she wasn't a medicine cat, her dreams would be crushed. "Your mentor will be Brightflight" Leafpaw's ears shot up. She watched as a ginger cat walked over to Maplepaw and tapped his nose to her's, 'that must be Infernoblaze' she thought. A light grey cat walked over and tapped her nose to Featherpaw's. 'That's Splash~heart' she thought. Leafpaw saw Brightflight walk over and she tapped her nose to Leafpaw's. Wolfkit watched in awe as the cats in the clearing started calling their names.
"Featherpaw! Leafpaw! Maplepaw!"

"Meeting dismissed" Greystar called then went to his den, Shadowfrost followed him in. 'Is she his mate?' Wolfkit asked herself. Featherpaw was swishing her tail in excitement, "I'm so happy to have you as my mentor Splash~heart. When can we start training?" Wolfkit heard Featherpaw ask her mentor. "We can start tomorrow morning if you like," Splash~heart told her. Featherpaw ran off to the apprentice den to get some sleep. Maplepaw followed but at a slower pace. Leafpaw followed Brightflight to the medicine den. Wolfkit, Falconkit and Silverkit went back to the nursery for some more rest.

When Wolfkit was dreaming she was walking along a dirt path. She then entered a clearing that was unfamiliar to her, it had four big oak trees on each corner and a big rock that towered over her. She sat down in the clearing and stared up at the rock. "You've arrived Wolfkit" A mew came from behind her. She jumped up and spun around with her claws unsheathed. But all she saw was the forest. She was confused, who had spoken to her?

"Who are you?" Wolfkit asked, a mew replied, "You will find out soon enough" Wolfkit was yet again confused. "Why am I here?" She asked, "you're here because I want you to meet someone," the voice told her. Wolfkit saw a black cat walkout from the trees. She stared at the black cat in confusion, was she supposed to know this cat?

"Who are you?" Wolfkit asked, the black cat was shocked, "Wolf I'm surprised you don't remember me... I'm Shadow... Your father..." he mewed without hesitation. Wolfkit stared in shock, "your Shadow... if you're my father... that means you were my rouge father" Shadow nodded at what Wolfkit just meowed. "Where's my mum... Where's... Snow~whisker?" Wolfkit asked, Shadow looked nervous, "your mother is not here at the moment," he told her. Wolfkit understood that much, she was now in TwilightClan, she was happy now but she really wanted to see her. "Your here for another reason Wolfkit" the invisible voice growled. "What is it?" Wolfkit mewed, "you have a special power that no other cat has, you must use it wisely" the voice meowed then disappeared. Wolfkit looked at her father, "what's my power?" she asked, "you will find out soon enough... goodbye my daughter" Shadow then faded.  Wolfkit was now even more confused than she was before, What was her power? How could she use it? Why did she have it? So many questions so few answers.

Wolfkit woke in the nursery, the sun was rising in the sky. It felt weird not having Featherpaw and her siblings in the den anymore. Robinfeather would be going back to the warriors den today and then it will only be her and her siblings in the den with Ivypetal. She felt empty inside.

She saw Silverkit wasn't sleeping next to her, she wasn't even in her nest. Wolfkit then saw Falconkit, he was still sound asleep next to her. So she got up and walked out of her nest. Falconkit didn't wake, so she left the den to find Silverkit. She got out of the den and saw that Silverkit wasn't there so she just sat outside the nursery. "What was that dream?" she asked herself. You have a special power that no other cat has, you must use it wisely she repeated the words of the cat that spoke to her. "What's my power?" she asked herself.

"Why did I meet Shadow and not Snow~whisker, nothing makes sense, things are playing with my mind" she mewed.
