"So Katherine had somehow been poisoning you for the last few days and no one had noticed?" Stefan asked.
"She had to of been putting very minimal amounts so we wouldn't have smelled it" Damon replied. "And when I killed Mason it pushed her to try and poison Danica, so I would lose her like she lost Mason."
"That's the best we got as of now" I sighed, leaning my head against my arm.
"I've got to go see Caroline" Damon spoke up a few minutes later. "Stay here and rest up. I'll be back in a little bit." He kissed me on the forehead and then left.
"I knew there were gonna be problems when Katherine found out Mason was dead" Stefan sighed. "Hopefully this will teach him to think before he acts."
"We'll see" I replied, standing up to head into the kitchen. "Hey, Stefan?" I called, looking through all the cupboards. He appeared in the doorway. "Should we throw the rest of this food away? We don't know what Katherine had poisoned or not."
"That'd probably be the smartest idea" Stefan agreed. "Can you go shopping for more food by yourself, or do you need me to go with you after school?"
"I can go myself" I told him. "Thank you for asking though."
"Of course" he smiled, backing out of my view. After throwing out the very limited food we had in the kitchen, I grabbed my keys and purse from the bedroom. I had put off grocery shopping for awhile, mostly because I never had time to do it. With just being out of the hospital, I knew Damon wasn't going to involve me with anything that was going on and with Katherine being locked away, it seemed like a weight was lifted off of everyone's shoulder.
***My phone began ringing as I was in line to check out at the grocery store. Damon's name flashed across the screen and I instantly answered the call.
"Hey handsome. What're you up to?" I asked.
"Stefan and I are on our way to save Elena" Damon responded.
"Elena needs saved again? From what, Katherine is locked away" I asked.
"She was kidnapped last night and no one noticed" he responded.
"Okay, we'll be careful. How long do you think you'll be?" I asked, placing the groceries on the belt.
"A few hours. We should be back by nightfall" he spoke and I heard Stefan in the background. "Okay, I have to go. I'll keep you updated. I love you."
"I love you too" I quickly said before he hung up. It wasn't long after that I was packing up the car with all the groceries I had gotten. I didn't get much, just enough for a week or two worth of food. I didn't get to much just in case Damon would finally make up his mind to change me into one of him because I didn't want to waste food when none of us would eat it. I drove all the way back to the house, only to carry and put away all the groceries on my own. It didn't feel right being by myself. I normally had someone to keep my company throughout the day but Damon and Stefan were going to get Elena and I had no idea what anyone else had planned for today. Besides, most of the people I hang with go to school and it was a weekday. After everything was put away, I grabbed out something easy to make so I could go lay down for a little bit and read a book or something. I felt drained, probably from being extremely I'll yesterday and all the running I had done. When the microwave beeped, I took out my lunch and brought it over to the couch with me. I laid down slightly, eating the ramen I had just made, scarfing it down like I haven't ate in days. Which was mostly true, since I hadn't ate anything since the vomiting had started a couple days ago. My eyes started feeling heavy and before I knew it I had fallen asleep with the bowl of ramen next to me.
***I felt movement next to me and as soon as I opened my eyes, pale blue ones stared back at me.
"Hey" Damon spoke softly, moving the ramen away from me. "I didn't mean to wake you."
"It's okay" I stretched slightly. "Everything go good? Elena and Stefan still alive?"
"Yeah, they're alive" Damon nodded. "You gonna stay up for a little while longer or are you gonna head up to bed?"
"I'll probably stay awake" I yawned. "I just slept all day." Damon nodded as he stood to pour himself some bourbon.
"Where's Elena?" Damon asked as Stefan walked into the house.
"She's home" Stefan replied.
"And you're here why?" Damon asked, turning to look at him.
"Because she wanted to be with Jeremy" Stefan replied.
"Here" Damon said, handing out a glass of bourbon to him. Stefan grabbed it, sitting down next to me.
"Thanks" Stefan cleared his throat. "Listen, uh, what Rose told Elena about the curse-"
"I know. We'll keep her safe" Damon cut him off.
"You know the only way we're gonna be able to do that is if we're not fighting each other" Stefan told him.
"Yes, Stefan. Heard it all before" Damon replied, setting his empty glass down.
"Hey" Stefan spoke, stopping Damon from walking away. "I'm sorry."
"About what?" Damon asked.
"For being the guy who made you turn 145 years ago."
"Enough Stef. It's late. We don't need to rehash that" Damon spoke, about to walk away again.
"You know what? I've never said it out loud. I guess I just need to say it and you need to hear it" Stefan continued. "I'm sorry. What I did was selfish. I didn't want to be alone. I guess I just needed my brother." With that, Stefan had finished and left the room. I stood to go stand by Damon who seemed to be stunned.
"Damon" I spoke quietly, stepping in front of him and I wrapped my hand around his arm. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah" he smiled slightly. "I'm okay."
