MissAvaMae: forth and last solo night. love my choir family so much. thanks to everybody who came out to support our program

I paced backstage, drinking my tea nervously. Solo night started in just an hour, and doors opened in ten minutes. I was so nervous. I sing all the time, but I rarely sing in front of a crowd. I can't imagine what it'll be like come July and I have to sing in front of like fifty thousand people.

"Ava," one of the stage managers stops me. "They need you for your mic check."

I nod and set my tea down on the vanity to my right. I tug at one of my bracelets nervously and step out onto the stage. My choir teacher smiles at me and cues the band. I check the mic and start to sing, holding my ear for a short moment to hear myself.

"Can you turn down the drums in the monitors please?"

She nods and adjusts the board. "Go again, Ava."

I nod and sing again, getting the sound I want from the speakers in front of me. I give her a thumbs up and she cuts me off, saying I'm good to go backstage again. I do a check again about three minutes later, this time with Lacey and our other friend Rachel. It's solo night, but we're allowed to sing in duos or small groups if we choose to. We were singing a song together tonight on top of our individual performances. Our teacher wanted us to since we'd all been in choir for four years and she wanted to highlight our talents since we're graduating. We were going to sing "We Are Who We Are" by Little Mix.

They closed the curtains and Lacey and I watched from side stage as people arrived. People ran frantically across the stage, trying to get all the instruments set up and trying to get cords out of the way. Lacey nudged me and pointed a group out that were coming in. "Isn't that the lady that works with the boys?"

I did recognise her. I think it was their vocal coach. She was with a large group, and I realized I had met with half of them when I got signed...

"Oh my god," I gasp. "Thats a group from my record company. What are they doing here?!"

"They probably want to hear you sing live. I dunno."

I move backstage and sit at the vanity where my tea is. I finish it off and take a few deep breaths, Lacey looking at me sceptically. "Suddenly I am like ten times more nervous."

"They've already signed you, so it's not like they're gonna drop you if they aren't pleased. But you don't even have anything to worry about Ave, you have a beautiful voice and you're so talented. Everything will be fine."

"Yeah, but like, why? Why did they show up? How did they find out about tonight?"

She shrugs. "I have to go find Rachel so we can run through all of our songs. You'll do amazing, don't worry. And I'll be right behind you doing background vocals."

"Thank you," I smile at her gratefully and she gives me a hug.

"Love you Ave."

"Love you too," I sigh. She runs off and I turn to the mirror. I touch up the curls in my hair that have flattened and finish up my makeup. I can hear my teacher introducing the emcees of the show, who introduce all of us as we come out for our performances. The crowd applauds as the first person is introduced. I was performing last, then Lacey and Rachel we're going to come out to join me.

I'd been vlogging a lot while I was backstage, doing stuff with my friends. Lacey recorded me doing vocal warm ups in the back room, and then I put my camera away in my bag and continued my warm ups without being recorded.

"Ava," a stage manager peaked into the room and I turned to them. "You're up next."

I followed them out of the back room, singing quietly as I walked. Lacey and Rachel gave me hugs and I was handed a mic while I waited for the other person to finish and for my name to be said.
