The classroom area was a mess and noisy as well.

Students bustling about with books, dusters, even brooms. My class, in particular, SS1D, was as noisy as a market.

Even though in a school like ours, lockers and chairs were always arranged for us and classrooms cleaned before resumption to ensure that classes began promptly without any hitches, headstrong students, such as the ones in my class, always rearranged sitting positions as they liked it.

But a very funny thing going on was that no one was aiming for the front where there was enough space, but everyone was clustering at the back of the class, yelling at the top of their voices for spaces already belonging to people.

A particularly interesting quarrel was the one between the two 'love birds' as we liked to call them from junior school; Kaave and Fejiro. The two of them behaved like sworn enemies, even right from JSS1. And the funny side of the issue was that right from JSS1, they had been in the same class and even in JSS2, they were seatmates.

Fejiro was at the peak of her anger. " Kaave, I don't know why you are just in love with trouble. Junior school, trouble, now senior school, the same time thing. I put my things here before you, I don't know why you are dragging it with me now."

Kaave didn't respond but pushed her chair out of the way and put his. Fejiro pushed her chair back. Kaave chuckled derisively. He gestured wildly with his hands.

"Make una come see me see trouble oh. When I came here, the place was bare. I put my chair. Now madam dey pour spit for my face say na she first put chair". He wagged a finger at her. "I no know why God decide to punish you, con put you for my class again, but this time, if you want trouble, I go give am to you oh, because I carry am reloaded from house, especially for you".

Fejiro's lip quirked in a derisive smile. "See this idiot oh. I'm leaving my chair here, let me go and get my locker. If my chair move..."

Kaave folded his arms. "What will you do?"

She snapped her fingers at him. "We shall see".

As soon as she left class, Kaave ran outside, spat and rotated his hand over his head twice. "God forbid".

Standing with Kosi while watching the entire drama, I laughed. "Kaave, wetin na? She no be winch oh".

"I don't care if she's a witch or not. But if somebody tells you 'we shall see', better protect yourself oh. You no know wetin e carry. Or which kind of juju e family dey serve. Especially all these warri people". He whispered the last part.

Kosi joined in my laughter.

Then Kaave sighted a junior student. "Hey, you, junior". The boy whirled around immediately.

Kosi smiled. "A newbie".

"Come", Kaave ordered.

The junior walked over non-hesitantly. "Yes senior?"

Kaave pointed at Fejiro's chair. "Remove that chair".

"Okay, senior". Be removed it. "Where should I put it, senior?"

"If you like, take it to your class".

"Okay, senior". He turned and started walking to his class with the chair.

I was shocked and amused. "This one na really JJC. Hey, you!"

The boy stopped. "Yes, senior?".

"Come back here".

Kosi shook his head. "You dey crase oh. He said you should take it to your class if you like and you are going. Do you know the owner of the chair?"

The boy shook his head. "No senior".
