Chapter one
I held your hand as tight as i could until they separated us. " No!! " I yelled as loud as possible. " young lady. Your a lady. Stop acting immature and foolish! " he commanded. I gasped when they pointed the gun to my brothers head. Tears streamed down my cheeks. " I love you. " that was my brothers lasts word before he got shot for being something he couldn't help. He was a Jew and I was too.
"Is their any more Jews?" Asked the commander. "No. But thanks for killing my brother" I replied sharply. He hand slapped me into the ground. "Any more smart remarks?" He asked.
"No sir." I think my face is bleeding or on fire one or the other. They told me to pack a suitcase. So I did. It contained everything I needed like food, clothes, pictures, old memories.
They loaded me and all my Jew neighbors into the Nazi truck. A pregnant Jew entered about 4 hours later she went into labor. "Help! Help! Please someone anyone!!" She screamed. "I'm only 13. But I can try to help." I said whispering. " first, please try to be quite. Because If not they'll kill your baby and you." She hushed up when I said that. "Thank god." A old man said. " I thought she would never hush." I replied saying "If you had a child coming out of you you'd be screaming too!"
Finally she had the baby girl two horrible hours later. I was going to tell her anyway the Nazi was going to kill the baby right when we arrive to the camp. But I didn't because right when she held her baby for the first time, her eyes just lit up. And her exact words was " I promise Julia we will make it out together." Me and the grumpy old man exchanged looks. Five and a half hours later we got on a train. It smelled like a crap-train. Their was a small hole leading out of the train. "Oh god." I said as I about threw up. "We'll that's a poop hole." The grumpy old man said. "Do they just expect us to use the bathroom in front of complete strangers on a train?!?" I said. "We'll, young lady this ain't no five-star train that's going to met to your accomplishments." The old man said. "I may be 13, but your attitude is horrible!. What's your name anyway you old hag?" Everyone gasped like I just cussed. "My name is Jon. And don't get a attitude I'm a adult you talk to me with respect. Ya hear?" I can tell he is from the country. "Yea ok." I said. It was night and everyone fell asleep. I didn't. The baby named Julia wouldn't be quite and I don't know why the mama wasn't feeding her. Then it hit me. The mama was dead. I yelled "she's dead!" Everyone sat up. "I was a nurse." A black hair women with gray streaks said. Ten minutes later, the nurse shook her head. "She's gone."
Their was about 50 people crammed into the stinky smelly train cart. All of a sudden the trained stopped. "What the -" a women named Mary said. The doors opened. A Nazi officer said "Out! Now!" They put us in different groups, and did a roll count. People has already died. This ain't a good sign. We have only been on the train for 2 days. They got the mother who died on our train. But I held the baby. How could we take care of this infant? I'm going to try my very best. Even though the are going to kill Julia. They put boys and girls in separate train cars. What do they think we are going to do? Have ___ in the middle of the floor in a time like this?! They got all our suitcases and luggage. They said it'll help to have more "space" in the car. But I don't think we'll be getting it back.
They loaded us back up. I was in car 32 with all girls. I looked up thru the tiny sun roof. "I'd say its about 4:00" I said talking to myself. "Who are you talking to child?" Ugh. I hate when people call me a "child". "I'm a teenager. Thank you." I said to the brunette. "Thank you I'm 43." I have a feeling I got off to a bad start with her. Time passed. A librarian sat in the middle of the train car. "Come children." All the children came and sat in a circle around her. "Once upon a time their was this prince named Darrell." Oh god. I thought. The librarian told stories for about thirty minutes. It felt like forever.
We finally stopped they let us out and their was a small cinderblock building. "Lady's clothes off." Do what?! I was not taking off my clothes in front of these men. "Now!" He screamed. Layer by layer I took off. I felt like they was staring at me! I put my hands over my front body parts. They gave us each five-minutes to shower I worried about my hair most of all. Lice was a HUGE problem in our train car. They gave us like prisoner clothes, and loaded us back onto the train. Almost everyone had lice I was trying my best not to get it. But I guess it was Sunday (I don't really know the date) I woke up and my head itched really bad. I asked the old retired nurse that rode with us. "That's lice. But it's not one of the worst case I've seen." She said. "Thanks that makes me feel a-little better." I whispered. "Your welcome. And if you need ANY help just let me know."
I was about to fall asleep when the little girl next to me coughed up blood. "Ew. God. Are you ok?" I said holding my nose. "Yea. I've been doing it all day. I've talked to someone on my last train car I was in and she said a virus was going around." She said. "That's not no ordinary virus. A normal one doesn't involve blood." The retired nurse replied. "So we all could get it?" A little girl asked. She looked about 6 or 7. Julia screamed for food while in my arms. "Anybody know how I can feed this child?" I said. "Hunny your not the mother I don't know why your even trying. Just you a 13 year old trying to raise a baby? Ha. Good luck with that child." A blonde said. "I have a name. And it's Paisleigh. Thank you. And I'm not abandoning this baby. It may not be mine but its going to be until I die or she does!" Everyone hushed. The train stopped. A nazi officer said "Bring out your dead." I looked around no-one dead I don't think. Then in the corner the little girl who threw up blood laid life-less. "Theirs one sir."
Chapter 2
We rode for 8 hours about. Then we all got off and arrived at the nazi camp. "What camp is this?" I asked out of curiosity. "Auschwitz" I have no idea where we are. Each of us got a tattoo on us. I was number 9836. They said they only need us for labor, but from what I heard we ain't going to make it out. But somewhere deep down inside me their is a glimpse of hope that is sparking inside. But then he said "All mothers step forward." I assume that's me. So I stepped forward with Julia. "Name?" "Paisleigh" "sorry ma'am. No babies." They grabbed Julia and held a gun to her head. "No!" I screamed. I fought her Julia when I had her in my arms I ran and ran. I bolted past the tattoo office. And a officer shot me in the arm, I kept going. I dashed for the woods and when I hit the woods I felt the presence of someone or something watching me. When I turned around the little girl about 6 or 7 was running towards me. "Let's escape together" I called.
We ran for about a hour. Julia was crying, my legs were aching with pain. I was barefooted my feet was bleeding from thorns and rocks I ran on. The little girl was way behind me. I stopped catching my breath and waiting for her to catch up. "Let's jog." "Sounds good to me." She replied barely saying anything. We both was short of breath. "My name is Ami." She whispered. "Why are you whispering?" I said. We were walking now. "I don't know I just feel like someone is following us." She whispered again. "Do u want to make camp here." "Shouldn't we get father away from the Nazi?" "Ami, we have been jogging for 2 hours. Plus Julia is getting tired and hungry." I said. "What can we feed her?" Ami asked. "That I don't know. Maybe we can mash berries up or something but I'm not letting her die or you or myself. We will get thru this and make it."
