Growing up, Griffin was raised by his grandfather, Michale Moons, a notorious and well known dealer.  Griffins mom left him when he was 4. She never called or sent birthday cards.
Besides being completely and utterly disowned by his mother, his grandfather raised him as his own. Griffin picked up on the drug buisness, quickly meeting Fezco. Their grandparents were best friends. The four often hung around and made deals with one another.
One rainy afternoon, Fez's grandmother didn't show. The next day she came with news, her other grandson was dropped off at her house! Ashtray.

Only a week or so later, Molly was dropped off at her grandfathers house. The two babies would be left home alone for hours at a time, once even a whole day until Fez and Griff reminded the adults.
Growing up, they were inseparable. But on a failed 'mission' both grandparents fell ill. Griff's grandfather declined rapidly, passing away six months in. The four kids threw a small ceremony and continued to care for grandma.

Ashtray and Molly grew apart. Their communication cut off and they barely spoke to one another. The older brothers quickly caught on but thought nothing of it, preteen things. But as years went on, the words stopped and so did the visits. Molly stopped going to the corner store and Ash stopped going to the laundry mat.
Griffin and Fezco didn't know how to handle it, so they didn't.
